TSN’s Ray Ferraro says for Jake Virtanen, it’s not just consistency game to game that he needs to work on to be in the top 6, it’s about consistency shift to shift. Ray says the 18 goals Jake scored last year won’t be as easy to come by if he’s in a top 6 role because he’ll be facing much tougher competition.

TSN1040’s Jeff Paterson says he’s not surprised that Jake Virtanen and the Canucks avoided arbitration. Jeff says for the Canucks, $2.55M per year is team friendly & two years gives Jake some security. Jeff says now it’s all about what Jake does with the opportunity he’s being given.

Kevin Epp, agent for Jake Virtanen, says there was no real harshness in their negotiations with the Canucks. Kevin says getting a two year deal was probably the biggest reason for trying to get this deal done & avoid arbitration.

Chicago Sun-Times Blackhawks reporter Ben Pope joins Donnie & Moj to discuss the letter the Hawks sent out to their fans & that letter is not going over well. Ben says GM Stan Bowman did sit down with the Hawks core four to ease their concerns that they aren’t blowing it up but doing much of what they’ve done over the past few years.

TSN1040's Rick Dhaliwal says the Canucks & Jake Virtanen wanted to get a deal done from Day 1 to avoid arbitration. Rick says VIrtanen now gets a chance to grab a top 6 role but that is up to him. Rick also believes the most likely result with Michael Ferland is for him to go on LTIR.
