Metal Gear Solid is one of the most iconic games of our time. The alarming sounds of "WHO'S THAT?!" or "WHAT WAS THAT NOISE?!" are all too familiar when we reminisce on our times spent with Solid Snake and company. But if we stopped there, at the game, its characters and its lore then we would be doing ourselves a great disservice.
The soundtrack for the Metal Gear series will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and you can thank Rika Muranaka for that. On an instrument since three, pro at seventeen, Muranaka worked on most of the Metal Gear titles (1-4), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Silent Hill. Rika worked with Konami for 20 years and on this edition of The show she shares her journey, relationship with Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and her upcoming projects.
Fallout 4, although somewhat buggy hits the 750 Million mark for games sold. Halo 5 is King of the Hill for the NPDs for October 2015. Nintendo's Direct feels somewhat less spirited without Satoru Iwata - Rest In Peace. Overwatch is surprisingly on my radar along with Star Wars Battlefront and Astro Gaming shows me love by allowing me to review the Halo 5 A40 Headset + Mixamp M80.
Black Ops III is upon us and those who enjoy the twitch experience will be spending quite a bit of time with Treyarch's latest release. Rise of the Tomb Raider gives us a glimpse of the humble beginnings of Lara Croft and we peek behind the curtains of Halo 5's $400M debut. The Game Fanatic's video creator Mona Aiyed joins in on the fun. She shares her journey in the gaming industry, her love for games and video production.
Halo is a beloved franchise and with the release of Guardians, it's been an interesting conversation to say the least. For the faithful, Halo 5 may prove to be one of the most underwhelmed campaign experiences to date. For the new spartan, those who aren't well versed in the lore, this may be 343 Industries' best dish.
Some will argue whether you serve it hot or cold, there's a remnant who will leave it on the table to go a tower, a reef or contemplate how exotic it really is to infuse gear. Some would rather be like Lara Croft, or Nathan Drake and raid things. You get the idea. The question is a looming one, where do you stand with Halo 5, is it everything you hoped it would be or is it just a commercial for the next title?
Halo 5 Guardians is the next installment of 343 Industries’ iconic shooter. It features a smooth multiplayer experience and a story told from two sides. Spartan Locke’s team is out to complete a mission while Master Chief has gone AWOL and is looking for answers. There are a few new characters in the game, new to those who aren’t well versed in the lore. Even with what may be considered as a disjointed story to some, Halo still captures the essence of ‘epic’ with its multiplayer and narrative. I expound on the points below in this episode. Enjoy.
Kelly, Frederic, Linda, who are they to John 117? The narrative assumes that you read, consumed a great portion of the lore for Halo. There is a percentage of players out there that are in it just for the gameplay...You can connect.
Lieutenant, Junior Grade Frederic-104, born Frederic Ellsworth, is a Spartan-II Commando and is one of the few surviving SPARTAN-IIs. Historically, Frederic-104 has held the highest rank among any of the active SPARTAN-IIs except for Kurt-051. He has been known to become greatly affected by his injured teammates. He has also had a close working relationship with John-117.
Petty Officer Second Class Kelly-087, born Kelly Shaddock, is one of the few remaining SPARTAN-II supersoldiers. She is well-known due to close friendships with Joshua-029, Samuel-034, Linda-058, Frederic-104, and John-117.
Petty Officer Second Class Linda-058, born Linda Pravdin, is a SPARTAN-II super soldier. She is one of the few known surviving Spartans. She is best known for her skill with the SRS99-S2 Sniper Rifle Systems, and once eliminated two targets so quickly that even John-117 couldn't tell who she had targeted first in the field. She also has a very close working relationship with Joshua-029, Kelly-087, Frederic-104, and John-117 and formed the combat sub-unit Blue Team.
Overall, Halo 5 is an absolutely amazing, adding a strong multiplayer component, dedicated servers, and smooth launch.
Halo 5 is buzzing like 50,000 bumble bees at a honey spill while Assassin's Creed Syndicate is proving to be the redeemer for the recent Assassin's Creed Unity. This season is always a hot one because we have games coming out at a rapid rate until January.
I'm joined by Spawn On Me's Kahlief Adams where we talk about race, Phil Spencer's recent comments on Geekwire, Milwaukee Bucks' John Henson, the state of Xbox and gaming. Somewhere in there we talked about Barret Wallace from Final Fantasy 7, that got in there too.

Halo 5's Master Chief is no longer alone. Mr. John-117 is always accompanied by a human or computer-controlled character in the next installment of the franchise. The game, scheduled to be released on October 27th is described as a manhunt where Chief goes AWOL and Locke is hunting him down. The Spartan hero may not be as we remember him in years past - Alone, heroic and alive. The recent trailer shows him as dead but we know that the Chief is taking a moment to rest before he finishes the mission at hand. We hope.
For a moment, think of the top 5 shooters to date. Think about it one more time, did Halo make your top 5 list? It seems like no one is really talking about it, either that or 343 industries is doing a stellar job at keeping the details under wraps. We see his painting on the walls of london and at same time, they call him traitor. We see the newly design covenant vehicles and we yearn for a more sociable narrative. Should we blame ourselves for the lack of hype for Halo 5?

Netgear Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band WiFi Router, the latest from the hardware giant is a top tier router for those running multiple clients on their network. It features Tri-Band WiFi which helps deliver more stable Wifi to your clients, app and device dynamic QoS bandwidth and 6 high performance antennas for maximum range. Powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with 3 offload processors, the Nighthawk X6 can manage anything that you throw at it and it is also equipped with a USB 3.0 port for your printer and hard drive solutions. Now, that's the tech specs in a nutshell but how does it perform? A great router has the 'set it and forget it' factor. I have on average 7-10 devices on my network and my network speeds (119/40) makes the ride a little easier.
Setting up the router was a breeze as well with minimal prompts. Once set and all the devices are recognized, the real fun begins with the Dynamic QOS. The QOS ensures that that the client not only gets the speed priorities that it needs but also puts them in their proper lane. This allows the network to be free of congestion and each client is receiving the exact stream that it needs to perform well. So whether my daughter is on her kindle, my wife is on Netflix (Samsung Tab 2013, Xbox 360) or I'm on the Xbox One, we're all happy with the WiFi traffic output. Parental controls are a necessity and I use OpenDNS through the router and that performs well. I need to know that any content flowing through my network is protected especially having a teenager who wants to google everything.
If there's a bad thing I'd say about the Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band WiFi Router is the fact that it has external antennas. Now it's just me but if something falls at the right angle on one of those 6 antennas, its a wrap. I like the internal antenna design, but I understand that the external design will give you more range - I get it. The other thing is design, it does look awesome but it takes up more space than I expected. Now, if there's a way to get all the tech into a smaller shell and allow the unit to be stackable and still having the proper ventilation, that would be a step in the right direction.
If you're looking for a budget router, this isn't the one. If you're looking for a router that's going to take your network and computing to the next level while forgetting the fact that the router is even there - the Netgear Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band WiFi Router has your name written on it.
Destiny: The Taken King is here and all of the guardians, near and far are exploring and becoming legend. The 2.0 expansion pack is a great testament showing that Bungie is listening and this masterpiece is become even more incredible every month.
Gamertag Radio's Parris joins the conversation as well as Krystal from Libsyn. We talk about the strikes, quests, Oryx, the Taken and yes, even Draksis. How can we forget about Draksis, the real MVP. He allowed many guardians to farm him via Three of coins like it was going out of style. Additionally we talk about interview tips, playing Destiny at your own pace and even some Forza 6. Destiny is a huge game, we love it and we didn't spoil anything. Promise.
