The event is hosted by ITV news and moderated by Julie Etchingham.
To my astonishment, the candidates are action as if all on speed. Everyone talks like agitated students knowing they are very angry with something and frustrated they can’t articulate what it is.
I fall asleep and dreamed I was voting for a jar of pickled onions.

Boris Johnson is no longer dominating the political news headlines. Attention has turned to the selection of his successor. This week saw the culling of wannabe leaders. Now there are few days while the remaining five have to go into the jungle and carry out a lot of undesirable tasks. Or, the metaphor I prefer, to take part in a series of beauty contests.
You will remember, the front runner is Rishi Sunak. Then there’s the surprise second favourite, Penny Mordaunt, followed by the drifting Liz Truss, and the two hangers-on Kemi B and Major Tom. They will all be wrapped in their policy pitches for the Beauty Parades, with attention paid by the judges to both costume and wearer. ..

The story so far
Throughout June a succession of political scandals assail Boris Johnson. Then one final crisis develops over the behaviour and subsequent treatment of a conservative MP.
In the space of a week, Boris Johnson loses his most difficult battle, which was of retaining the support of his cabinet ministers and the wider group of MPs in Parliament. He makes a grudging admission he has resigned as party leader, clinging to the role of Prime Minister in a temporary or acting Capacity. The action now swings to the process of evicting him, and bringing in his successor...

This is it. The two players who have lit up the women’s tournament at Wimbledon now clash on Centre court. Ons Jabeur is third seed and is bookies’ favourite. Her game is a subtle one, reacting to any tactics attempted by her opponents with drop shots and slices. Elenor Rybakina seeded seventeen is a power player, six foot tall, with a first serve winning nearly 80% of points. Jabeur brings more experience, and is more mobile.
All to play for.
