This week Alyssa and Leah are discuss Houdini and Me by Dan Gutman.

"Harry has always admired the famous escape artist Houdini. And

when Houdini asks for help in coming back to life, it seems like an

amazing chance . . . or could it be Houdini’s greatest trick of all?"

"Eleven-year-old Harry Mancini is not Harry Houdini—the famous escape artist who died in 1926. But Harry does live in Houdini’s old New York City home, and he definitely knows everything there is to know about Houdini’s life. What is he supposed to do then, when someone starts texting him claiming that they’re Houdini, communicating from beyond the grave? Respond, of course. It’s hard for Harry to believe that Houdini is really contacting him, but this Houdini texts the secrets to all of the escape tricks the dead Houdini used to do. What’s more, Houdini’s offering Harry a chance to go back in time and experience it for himself. Should Harry ignore what must be a hoax? Or should he give it a try and take Houdini up on this death-defying offer?"

This week we are discussing Hello, Universe. In one day, four lives weave together in unexpected ways. Virgil Salinas is shy and kindhearted and feels out of place in his crazy-about-sports family. Valencia Somerset, who is deaf, is smart, brave, and secretly lonely, and she loves everything about nature. Kaori Tanaka is a self-proclaimed psychic, whose little sister, Gen, is always following her around. And Chet Bullens wishes the weird kids would just stop being so different so he can concentrate on basketball. They aren’t friends, at least not until Chet pulls a prank that traps Virgil and his pet guinea pig at the bottom of a well. This disaster leads Kaori, Gen, and Valencia on an epic quest to find missing Virgil. Through luck, smarts, bravery, and a little help from the universe, a rescue is performed, a bully is put in his place, and friendship blooms.

This week we are discussing Amelia Bedelia Means Business . Amelia Bedelia makes her chapter book debut! In Amelia Bedelia Means Business, a New York Times bestseller and the first book in the popular chapter book series, young Amelia Bedelia will do almost anything for a shiny new bicycle.

"Amelia Bedelia's parents say they'll split the cost of a new bike with her, and that means Amelia Bedelia needs to put the pedal to the metal and earn some dough! With Amelia Bedelia anything can happen, and it usually does. Short, fast-paced chapters, tons of friends, silly situations, and funny wordplay and misunderstandings make the Amelia Bedelia chapter books an ideal choice for readers."

This week we are discussing Wings of Fire The Dragonet Prophecy.

"Imagine you were stolen from your family.

Imagine you were raised by someone who didn’t love you, didn’t understand you, and didn’t care to try.

Imagine this has happened because someone thinks you have a destiny.

Imagine there is a war raging outside, and according to a mysterious prophecy, only you and your four friends can stop it. Although nobody seems to know exactly how you’re going to do that.

This is your fate. Imagine you have no choice.

Or do you?

Oh, and p.s. You’re a dragon."

This week Alyssa and Leah are discussing Dragon Masters. Dragon Masters is a fantasy series that takes place in a world where dragons and magic are real. If you are eight years old, you can be chosen by the magical Dragon Stone to be paired with a dragon.

After discussing the book and a variety of opinions about the characters and the story, Alyssa and Leah will read opinions from viewers like you!

On this week's episode, Alyssa and Leah discuss a variety of topics. We discuss our favorite Thanksgiving books, Christmas gifts for readers, and an exciting Winter Reading Challenge.
