TV is AWESOME

We get a whole episode devoted to former Chief of Mapleton Police, Kevin Garvey Sr., in the third episode of The Leftovers, Season 3. Listeners, we're HERE FOR IT! Grandpa Kevin is up to some crazy stuff in Australia like getting stranded in the Outback, accidentally killing a perfectly nice aboriginal shaman, listening to tapes of Kevin Jr., ace reporter, and getting bitten by a poisonous snake even though snakes are apparently the Garvey family totem. But it's all in service of trying to prevent the apocalypse, so no big deal... right? Meanwhile, we keep wondering why Kevin and Mary never talk about ending up in the Westin Bonaventure - Purgatory! We're catching up with Nora in episode 2 of season three, "Don't Be Ridiculous"! She's doing great everybody! Except, maybe she's not - which we find out when a trip to interview a not-departed Mark Linn-Baker (!) of "Perfect Strangers" fame leads her to a heartbreaking visit with Lily and a heart-to-heart with Erika. Nora reveals how and why she broke her arm... and then does some cathartic trampoline jumping set to the strains of the Wu-Tang "Band". Plus, she walks in on Kevin with a bag over his head! We have LOTS of thoughts about things going on in media this week, so we had to bring you a very special bonus episode of TV is Awesome! First, we talk about the "Reply All" controversy and try to parse out just what was going on behind-the-scenes at Gimlet HQ. Then, we discuss our current obsession, the Netflix True crime series, "Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel", and try to figure out why that sweet British couple would drink brown water!

Listeners, we've reached season 3 of The Leftovers! In "The Book of Kevin,"  the action picks up 3 years after the events of "I Live Here Now," and everyone is happy, happy, happy! Except that Lily is nowhere to be seen, The West Wing's Donna Moss is leaving, Laurie and John are together (yuck) and scamming people (of course), and Kevin has a regular practice of nearly smothering himself with dry cleaner bags. Plus, Matt, John, and Michael are writing a mysterious book about Kevin and his habit of returning from the dead.

Meg's plan goes into action with a bang in the finale of The Leftovers Season 2 - "I Live Here Now"!

Meg is skulking around the campgrounds with Tommy in tow while Kevin finds himself back among the living after being dead for 8-hours... and that's just the start! It's an episode full of surprises and revelations including the return to consciousness of The West Wing's Donna Moss, the answer to why Evie and pals disappeared, and a heated confrontation between John and Kevin over his hand print on the car. Plus, very tense countdowns, the return of Kevin's dog who may or may not be named Smokey, and Virgil was ERIKA's father?? What?

It's the return of a character we didn't even know we wanted back, Meg (!) in the penultimate episode of The Leftovers - Season 2 - "Ten Thirteen".

Yes, listeners, our sweet Meg has returned, and she's taking no prisoners. We get a little rewind on her relationship with her mother, see what drove her to join the Guilty Remnant, and what turned her into the really scary Meg who popped up earlier in the season. Plus, she as an unexpected connection to Miracle/Jarden that leads to the jaw dropping revelation at the end of the episode!

Tune is as we try to interpret what show thinks about consent issues, ask why Matt always seems to catch onto things, wonder what Meg means when she says she wants to impregnate Tommy, and question how three episodes can go by without a Nora appearance!

Kevin is taking a very strange trip to... a hotel somewhere (??) in The Leftovers - Season 2 - "International Assassin".

In this episode, Kevin births himself into another dimension right out of a hotel bathtub, and proceeds to take on the identity of an international assassin. Listeners, this is a strange and iconic episode of the Leftovers!

After his "death" in "A Most Powerful Adversary", Kevin wakes up in an alternate reality where he must assassinate Patti, a presidential candidate, to finally free himself from her spirit, ghost, or whatever she is. But who is the real Patti??

Folks, we're getting more answers but everything's getting crazier in episode 7 of Season 2, "A Most Powerful Adversary"!

First, Nora's flown the coop (with Lily and the West Wing's Donna Moss) after Kevin's confession at the end of the last episode leaving Kevin locked up in handcuffs - uh oh. Patti told him it would happen! Patti has a whole lotta of stuff to say in this episode, and as ever, it's unclear how reliable she is. Kevin needs to get out of the cuffs, track down Nora, and maybe, just maybe, figure out how to solve the Patti Problem. His meandering journey leads him to a visit with Laurie, who tells him he needs to be committed, and finally to Virgil who tells Kevin he needs to die!

Listeners, it's the episode of the Leftovers Season 2 with the SCENE between Nora and Erika! Plus, we get some answers to the questions we been asking all season long! It's a contest of wills between our two favorite Jarden/Miracle residents in episode 6, "Lens".

There's some (literal) throwing of stones, questionnaire stealing,  interrupted goat sacrifice, and possible influence from the demon Azrael.  We also get the sweet teen romance of Jill and Michael, stashed cash and hidden hearing aid batteries, the voice of Penny from "Lost", Nora's questionable decision to leave Kevin in charge of Lily and "The West Wing"s Donna Moss, and Kevin's equally questionable decision to confess to Nora at the worst possible moment.

It's the trials and tribulations of The Leftovers' resident Job, Matt Jamison, in the 5th episode of Season 2 - "No Room at the Inn".  This time, Matt and The West Wing's Donna Moss (aka Mary Jamison) find out some very surprising news about Mary's condition only to get trapped outside of Jarden when they lose their i.d. bracelets. Matt, stop helping strangers! They spend some quality time with the friendly campers outside the gates including naked guy in stocks, Elmer the Swede, comedian Brett Butler, and a dude who likes to be called Brian while getting whacked by an oar.  Luckily, it's Nora "Kicks Ass" Durst to the rescue!
