Prof. Homero Vallada é Professor Associado do Departamento de Psiquiatria da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), coordenador do Laboratório de Psicopatologia e Terapêutica Psiquiátrica (LIM23) do HC-FMUSP. Médico psiquiatra pela USP, doutorado pela University of London e pós-doutorado pelo Karolinska Institutet. Bolsa de Produtividade em Pesquisa 1D do CNPq. Suas principais linhas de pesquisa envolvem as áreas da genética (epidemiológica, molecular e farmacogenética) de transtornos psiquiátricos e mais recentemente as áreas de religiosidade/espiritualidade CV Lattes: lattes.cnpq.br/2382415855376890 Prof. Homero Vallada MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Sao Paulo Medical School, Brazil. Prof. Vallada is the Director of the Genetics and Pharmacogenomics Programme at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of Sao Paulo Medical School (IPq-USP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He received his M.D. from the Sao Paulo Federal University in 1985, and completed his psychiatric training at IPq-USP in 1988. Between 1990-1994 he did his research training at the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP) in London under the supervision of Robin Murray. He received his Ph.D. degree (Kings College) in 1995 and was appointed honorary lecturer at the IoP. In 1996, he returned to USP and established the first genetic research group focused on psychiatric disorders in Brazil. Between 2005 and 2007, he did his sabbatical at Karolinska Institute in Sweden. During the past 20 years, he has authored or co-authored more than 150 scientific reports. His more recent area of interest has been in pharmacogenomics, more specifically in crack/cocaine addiction, including investigation into epigenetic mechanisms.
