In the early 90s one of the greatest action directors in cinema history left Hong Kong to make films in the USA. His first American film was Hard Target, one of TV/Movie Rewinds Top Ten Action films. Matt & Todd consider Hard Target to be Woo’s best American made film and Star Jean-Claude Van Damme’s best movie. Featuring Lance Henriksen and Arnold Vosloo in amazing roles as villains. Matt & Todd discuss filmmaker William Lustig’s magnum opus Maniac Cop 2. A rare example of a sequel being superior to the original. Once again two masters of exploitation films, Lustig and Larry Cohen deliver a highly entertaining experience. When they learn their academy is going to be closed they arm themselves and occupy the campus, demanding the school remain open. Are they heroes, or terrorists? There’s no easy answer. Matt & Todd discuss the dramatic action thrilling Uncommon Valor. The 1983 POW/MIA rescue film that beat Rambo: First Blood Part II to the theaters by two years. It was even helmed by Ted Kotcheff, director of First Blood. Starring Gene Hackman, Reb Brown, Fred Ward, Randall “Tex” Cobb, Tim Thomerson, Patrick Swayze, Harold Sylvester and Robert Stack.

“Cryyyyyyyy little sister…” Matt & Todd discuss one of the greatest films of the 80s. Richard Donner’s production, The Lost Boys. Directed by Joel Schumacher. Starring: Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Jami Gertz, Kiefer Sutherland, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann and the scene stealing Barnard Hughes.

Starring Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell the last 80s action movie should be an amazing movie. Unfortunately the production was a nightmare. The director and the producer were at odds, the script was constantly rewritten, and filming ran late and $20 million over budget. Somehow, Tango & Cash still manages to be a watchable and entertaining film. It just falls far short of its potential.

The 4th season known as The World’s Greatest Super Friends set a series high for storytelling. Seasons 5 & 6 are fun & entertaining, but unfortunately seem to fall back in the goofiness of early seasons.
