TWG EKS 08: Nurturing Confidence: Insights on Addressing Anxiety in the Classroom with Stephen Quinlan

Listen Later

Welcome to today’s interview on the Emotional Kids Summit.

In this compelling conversation, Stephen Quinlan, a licensed independent clinical social worker, discusses his work with anxious children and the importance of addressing anxiety in the classroom. He shares his experience as a therapist for over 20 years, specializing in anxiety disorders, particularly selective mutism. Stephen explains that selective mutism is an anxiety-based communication disorder where children are hesitant or completely mute in public settings but verbal and interactive at home. He emphasizes the prevalence of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, and highlights the need for early identification and intervention.
