  • NFTs, Non-Binary, and The Flaw of Attraction!

In this continuing series of episodes covering various aspects of the NFT space, I'm joined by artists Alexis Hunley and Annabelle Freedman. They've recently dropped an NFT release series titled "The Flaw of Attraction". The series seeks to shed light on the controversial topic of sexuality, and what it means (and does not mean) to be non-binary.

    About Alexis Hunley

Alexis Hunley is a freelance artist based in Los Angeles. Since she began her photography journey in 2017 she has had the pleasure of producing commercial, editorial, lifestyle, and documentary work for a variety of clients including Adobe, Essence, Airbnb, Apple, and The National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

Propelled by her love for the interplay between science and art, Alexis is naturally drawn to work that allows her to explore vulnerability and authenticity. As a queer Black artist navigating the creative industry Alexis has found that her desire to dive deeper and reach for the truest, most authentic forms of expression drives her creativity.

    About Annabel Freedman

Annabelle Freedman is a multi-faceted nonbinary artist. Creating space predominately through sounds, they have been favored on KCRW, NPR Music, and other stations. They have toured festival circuits gracing the stages of SXSW, Broke LA, and UMS as well as major LA venues and stages abroad.

Exploring space and time through their inspiration of nature, they interweave playful assessments of humanity through collaboration, with personal anecdotes rooted in more-than-human interconnectedness.

  • Photoshop Different, with Aaron Nace

In this episode, I'm joined by Aaron Nace of PHLEARN! We discuss some strong contenders to Adobe Photoshop!

    About Aaron and Phlearn!

    ©Aaron Nace

Initially, PHLEARN was an enjoyable side-project designed to bring in some income to fund Aaron’s passion projects. As the years went on, those passion projects helped his style and vision coalesce. His formal education was grounded in practicality; industrial design is the art of form and function, often characterized by precision and clarity. In contrast, his unique perspective drove him to inject elements of the strange and imaginative. The resulting images exist somewhere in between high fashion and surreal fantasy.

With access to an instructor with such a distinct sense of style and warm personality, PHLEARN’s YouTube channel began to grow exponentially. PHLEARN inevitably grew out of Aaron’s North Carolina apartment and the company now calls Chicago home, taking up residence in a spacious studio overlooking the city’s iconic skyline.

Now, with over 500 tutorials, PHLEARN has evolved into a massive resource for anyone aspiring to express their creativity whether it be personally or professionally. Aaron has also evolved from that of a pure creative to someone now responsible for the day-to-day growth and development of a thriving business. With nearly 1.5 million YouTube subscribers, the demands of curating new and challenging content for his students require the majority of his focus, though he still manages to find the time for the conceptual work that he loves.

Whether he’s working out a way to pull off some new bizarre image or he’s helping sculpt the direction of a company to ensure the happiness of its customers and employees, Aaron finds a way to make sure that his personal philosophy continues to resonate throughout everything that he does.

  • Capturing the Arctic Light, with Curtis Jones

It takes a certain personality to appreciate the details of a climate rarely inhabited by people. Curtis Jones has spent most of his career saturating himself in the polar regions of the planet, dividing his residency between Newfoundland and Nunavut, Canada.

Over the last decade, his adventurous lifestyle has taken him across the Gobi Desert by kite buggy, on a 2300 km unsupported traverse of the Greenland Ice Cap, Antarctica, and a lifetime of climbing and exploration worldwide. Working for both the private and public sectors, he has documented work for environmental initiatives, literacy, Canadian National Parks, climate change, and tourism in the Canadian Arctic.

Collaborating with world-class athletes, production teams, and local cultures and communities, he has built his career delivering a personal view of the raw, wild, and often untamed. His work has been seen in National Geographic Adventure, Canadian Geographic, The Globe and Mail, Huffington Post Canada, and more. Between commercial clients, he is often seen leading photography workshops in the polar regions of the Earth, sharing his appreciation for adventure with others.

A collector of interesting stories, Curtis is rarely seen far from a camera, tent, or a good punchline.

  • Shooting Rockstars with Anabel DFlux!

In this interview rockstar photographer Anabel DFlux joins me to discuss the exciting (and sometimes misunderstood) world of photographing concerts and performances. We dive into pricing, bidding, preparation, income, and more! We also discuss the controversial topic of "specialization" and how she does NOT believe in it!

    About Anabel DFlux:

    ©Anabel DFlux

Anabel DFlux began her artistic journey at the age of ten, upon being gifted her first camera. This newfound passion quickly turned into a skilled endeavor, and by the age of fifteen, Anabel had opened her own photography service, Deliquesce-Flux Photography.

By seventeen, her photography service became a full-time profession. By the age of nineteen, Anabel had received an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communications, and by the age of twenty-three, a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing with a focus on branding and content marketing. Although photography is a self-taught skill, during this time, Anabel had also collaborated with several well-known photographers, attended multiple workshops and panels, and received a few certifications- all in order to increase her knowledge and further her passion.

Anabel’s love for art and creation has always been an innate feeling, and she prides herself on having a natural sensitivity for composition, aesthetics, and various other aspects of visual art. This aids in her keen ability to understand what it takes to make a great photograph, not just a good one.

The camera is as much a part of her as her arm and became an extension of her body. Alongside this, Anabel’s life-long passion for animals and music brings forth her strongest work.

  • Don’t call Leah Judson a photographer.

In this interview, I speak with the amazing Leah Judson! Her life and work cover over 20 countries, and 500,000+ miles across the United States.

We discuss her refreshing perspective on photography and storytelling, and how calling her just a photographer might be inaccurate.

Leah is known for her intimate portrait work and her organization, BEHOLD.HER, a D.C.-based event series bridging social barriers through women-led storytelling. With the pandemic influencing her programming, she repurposed her downtime into an upcoming new series called, Before We Could Drink, in which she'll circle the United States in a renovated bus to interview young people who are defying expectations before turning 21.
