  • Assign yourself a photography project, with Matt Granger

In this episode, I catch up with Matt Granger! We "attempt" to focus the conversation on Self-Projects and how to create and manage them.

    Matt Granger

Before YouTube & traveling the world teaching, Matt was a passionate professional photographer specializing in all things "people" related. Matt has been published extensively in Australia and abroad and has exhibited with the likes of Studio Harcourt.

Over the past several years, Matt has become more focused on what he calls Intimate Portraiture – tasteful nude portraits, often shot on location with a casual atmosphere.

  • Building a Better Boudoir Business

Los Angeles-based boudoir photographer Michael Sasser discusses how he was able to push through the lockdown and emerge with a business that's stronger than ever. This is particularly impressive considering, at one point, LA was one of the largest COVID-19 hotspots in the nation.

Michael Sasser, in his own words...

As a photographer, I always get the question “Why boudoir?” and the answer to that is simple really. Boudoir doesn’t just empower you. It empowers me, too. It gives me the chance to go beyond words. I could say to each of you, “you’re beautiful”, but let’s be honest, nine times out of ten, you won’t believe me. I am privileged enough to get behind the lens of a camera and capture images so beautiful and so powerful that they can bring tears of joy to a woman’s eyes.

I get to be a part of the process of showing, not telling, a woman how truly remarkable she is. I get to see women truly believe in their worth, their strength, and their beauty, and I gotta say, I couldn’t imagine doing anything more magical.

In this episode, Molecular Biologist / Photographer Stephen Scharf joins the podcast to share his experiences using iPhone 213 PRO Max as a professional (i.e., money-making) camera. To Stephen's surprise, it turns out the iPhone is more than capable of handling a wide variety of photography tasks, including real estate interiors and exteriors. But there are a few "gotcha's."

    About Stephen Scharf

    Stephen Scharf

I'm a scientist by training and a photographer by avocation. My scientific work has ranged from human molecular genetics to molecular diagnostics and DNA forensics. • Women Hold Up Half the Sky, with Gerard Exupery

In this interview I get to sit down with New York City street photographer, Gerard Exupery. We discuss the "birthing process" behind the creation of his newest self-published book, titled Women Hold Up Half the Sky.

    About Gerard Exupery

I am the father of two adult sons. I never wanted kids and it turned out to be the single best thing I’ve done with my life so far. Like a lot of things that turned out to be an absolutely fantastic experience, I had to be dragged kicking and screaming there by a woman.

I’ve always wanted to take pictures from the moment my dad helped steady his Rolleiflex in my shakey little hands while I took my first picture. His death the following year greatly influenced why and what I see, and how I photograph it.

I lived in New York City for more than 20 years. My wife and I moved to Montclair NJ to raise the niblets. If you aren’t making at least a million a year you can’t afford to raise your kids in the city. Montclair is 11 miles from mid-town Manhattan so you could run it if you wanted to. Not me, but you could. Until I injured my back I was in the city 3-4 times a week.

While we enjoy the convenience that digital technology brings to the modern world, we want everyone to experience the joy of shooting with film. Whether it’s the unique feel of an old camera, the slow rhythm that comes along with each click of the shutter, or just the general experience of having to wait to find out what masterpiece you have just created.

We are thrilled to offer an intimate lab experience that not only offers film processing and scanning but also works with you to build your skills as a film photographer. The film community has been so good to us, many times over. The least we can do is to give back by sharing our knowledge, spreading our passion, and providing a service that keeps film alive.

BFL is a small boutique lab located in Nashville, TN that focuses on delivering high-quality images. We don’t process thousands of rolls every month and therefore we treat every order as if it were our own.
