David Richard Berkowitz, born Richard David Falco, June 1, 1953, also known as the Son of Sam and .44 Calibre Killer, is an American serial killer who pleaded guilty to eight shootings that began in New York City on July 29, 1976.

Emanuela Orlandi,  a Vatican teenager who mysteriously disappeared while returning home from a flute lesson in Vatican City on 22 June 1983. Sightings of Emanuela in various places have been reported over the years, including inside Vatican City, but all have been unreliable. The disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi sparked an intense media frenzy in Italy that has resulted in the case being called “Italy’s most famous unsolved mystery”, as well as marking one of the few known disappearances of a Vatican citizen.

Raonaid Murray was an Irish murder victim, stabbed to death at the age of 17 in the early hours of 4 September 1999. This case remains unsolved. The murder weapon has not been located either. Each year her family and the Garda Síochána issue new appeals for fresh information.

In this Halloween episode we look at the case of Ronald Clark O'Bryan, nicknamed The Candy Man and The Man Who Killed Halloween. He was an American man convicted of killing his eight-year-old son Timothy on Halloween 1974.

The Dupont de Ligonnès murders and disappearance involved the murder of five members of the same family in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, France, followed by the disappearance of the patriarch of the family, Xavier Pierre Marie Dupont de Ligonnès. His wife, Agnès Dupont de Ligonnès, and their four children, along with the family's two dogs, were killed on an undetermined day in early April 2011. Their bodies were found buried in their garden on 21 April. Xavier disappeared at the same time and has not been found. The exact nature of the events has never been determined.

Between 2002 and 2004, Ariel Castro kidnapped Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina "Gina" DeJesus from the streets of Cleveland, Ohio and later held them captive in his home of 2207 Seymour Avenue in the city's Tremont neighbourhood.All three girls were imprisoned at Castro's home until 2013, when Berry successfully escaped with her six-year-old daughter, to whom she had given birth while imprisoned, and contacted the police.
