What are the best gifts you've given or gotten? For me, it is always gifts that say "I was thinking of you" or "I know you so well that you didn't have to even mention this and I knew you'd love it" This week we talk about a gift Ben gave me for Valentines Day--a subscription to a Cookie of the Month Club (and this is not an ad--I just love the company for reasons that will become evident!) called Doughp--check them out. 

In that weird in-between time of high school and college summer jobs, in the days before internships and real jobs, I worked at the most magical summer resort. If you remember the movie Dirty Dancing--you know this resort.  

My father's signature meal. After he got sober and changed jobs, my mother started working two nights a week at a halfway house. Dad and I took turns making dinner but neither of us were particularly skilled in the kitchen, but we liked what we ate. 

In this episode, I pronounce zeppole at least three different ways, and crepes two different ways. I added a new calendar to the mix and really now I cannot be stopped. And I will apologize in advance for the squeaking noises--I talk with my hands even when I am recording and it makes things move imperceptibly in my recording studio (ie., on top of a laptop box, in the bedroom) and the microphone picks it up!
