Southeast Missouri's flight was on its descent to the Tampa International Airport for a tournament hosted by the University of South Florida when Head Coach Mark Redburn's cell phone had just enough service to take a call. The call was from his counterpart at USF, who let Redburn know the tournament the Redhawks were travelling to play in was cancelled. Thompson, a senior guard from Memphis, Tennessee, totaled 33 points (16.5ppg) and 20 boards (10rpg) this past week as Southeast Missouri women's basketball split its pair of home games with SIUE (1/28) and Eastern Illinois (1/30). SEMO women's tennis was selected to finish the 2021 season third in the Ohio Valley Conference. Romana Tarajova was also named to the preseason top 10 player rankings for a second-straight season. SEMO Gymnastics season is officially underway, and junior Anna Kaziska was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week in the first weekend of the season. Sophomore guard Sophie Bussard was named the Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
