  • Why"comedy" and "horror" never win at the Oscars... and saving music festivals - Feat. David Rose

Our special guest is David Rose, a stand-up comedian, known for his sharp wit and dark humour.

    We discuss:

    • "Footy is back" - but are we allowed to say that anymore? Does it de-value the NRLW and the AFLW? The media has been very focused on the way we speak about women's sport.
    • The Oscars were full of surprises this year - but one thing remains true... Horror and Comedy rarely go well.
    • Will cheap tickets for young people, save music festivals? The Australia Institute found 80% of young Australians would attend more live music events if a $200 government-funded voucher were available.

See David Rose at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival!

  • Re-evaluating Monica Lewinsky.. and why "Neighbours" and "Territory" have been cancelled

Our special guest is, Andrew Whitelaw, who you might know as the witty "Wheat Watcher,"...  keen observer of agricultural markets. But did you know he's a movie buff who secretly harbours a wish to be cast as a villain in a film?.  He joins us for a pop culture chat that takes us all back to the 90s!

    We discuss:

    • Re-evaluating Monica Lewinsky. She has a bold new podcast "Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky," where she revisits the scandal that once defined her public image—and we wonder would she be treated differently today?
    • Pamela Anderson is back - yes, without makeup - but there is so much more to talk about.
    • Neighbours has been cancelled... again. And Territory won't be coming back either - What does this mean for Australian productions?

Andrew Whitelaw is an agriculture market analyst, co-founder of Episode 3, podcaster on AgWatchers, and the man behind many ‘Woffal’ conversations. Known for breaking down the complexities of agriculture with sharp insights (and an even sharper wit), Andrew is as passionate about commodity markets as he is about his deep, unfulfilled desire to play the villain in a film. Someone cast this man as a baddie already!

  • Is AI making us stupid? The REAL reason Taylor Swift gets booed & the BAFTAs - Feat. Danny McGinlay

Our special guest this week is comedian and writer, Danny McGinlay.  We dive into:

    * Is generative AI destroying our ability to think critically? New research suggests that artificial intelligence can inhibit us from developing critical thinking skills.

*The REAL reason why Taylor Swift was booed at the Super Bowl -  We discuss multiple theories, from the cynical to political... to the plain silly.

    * The BAFTAs  versus the AACTAs - 'Conclave' took out the big awards at this year's BAFTAs. But what even is a "papal thriller", is it a new genre?

Danny McGinlay,  has been a touring headliner comedian for over two decades. He's performed for royalty, prime ministers and even Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has been seen on Fisk, The Front Bar and Utopia but he is best known for writing funny messages on footy banners.

  • Inside the AACTA Awards, Bridget Jones...but are Rom-Coms dead? - Feat. Kate Atkinson

Our special guest this week is actor, Kate Atkinson.

We dive into the ACCTA Awards, in which Leila’s film Just A Farmer was nominated, so we have a boots on the ground witness! Is there a divide between the famous and the non-famous? What was Robbie Williams like? And why Leila was nearly refused entry to the AACTA awards for what she chose to wear.

    We also discuss:

    • Are we obsessed with glorifying criminal behaviour on TV? With the release of the Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar, it raises the question: why do we love to watch bad people on our screens? Can you tell these stories without glorifying the bad behaviour?
    • Is the traditional rom-com dead? Bridget Jones is back on our screens! We loved her 20 years ago…but do we still love romantic comedies? Do they work in our modern era?

Kate Atkinson is best known for her roles on television series Sea Change as police officer Karen Miller. She also played Renee in Offspring and Vera Bennnett in Wentworth. Kate recently played the character of Melissa Caddick in the Underbelly Series. Kate lives in country Victoria… living the dream with her horse and 12 acres!

We’re a brand new weekly podcast, released on Wednesdays. You can follow us on Instagram.
