Listen Later

In episode 89 of the Disruptors for GOOD podcast, I speak with Ty Walrod and Candice Ammori, program directors at OnDeck on the future of community and modern education.

On Deck is creating a new community and educational environment where the world's top talent comes to connect. Whatever it is you want to do next, the OnDeck community and action-oriented programming allows fellows to learn something new to uplevel your career, launch and scale big ideas, and make lifelong friends.

OnDeck's 8- to 10-week-long virtual fellowships provide community, education, support, and momentum to supercharge your path forward. Fellowship categories include:

  • Podcasting Fellowship
  • No-Code Fellowship
  • Founder Fellowship
  • VC Fellowship
  • Climate Tech Fellowship
  • Designer Fellowship
  • Community Building Fellowship

To date, OnDeck fellows have founded 330+ companies and raised over $250m from incredible investors through OnDeck programming.

OnDeck has also created a $1M Donor Advised Fund to provide scholarships to underestimated talent.

"Technology is a powerful force for good." - OnDeck Team

The On Deck Access Fund is a donor advised scholarship fund (“DAF”) dedicated to supporting people who have the talent and drive to build great startups and progress their careers in technology, but lack the typical background, incentives or resources to do so. Learn more here.

About Ty

In November 2020, Ty joined the team at On Deck to build and launch On Deck Scale(ODS), a 6-month program designed to help talented founders scale as leaders.

Prior to On Deck, he founded Denali Summit Partners to help early-stage founders as a fractional leader, and was an active member of both South Park Commons and the On Deck Fellowship (ODF6).

In 2012, Ty co-founded Bright Funds, a leading enterprise SaaS platform for corporate philanthropy that has facilitated more than $100M in philanthropic transactions around the globe. Bright Funds technology powers the employee giving, volunteerism and corporate grant-making programs for tens of thousands of employees at dozens of leading companies. Bright Funds helps companies realize the true potential of a comprehensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy that takes into account the demands and expectations of a new generation of donors.

He also previously co-founded and helped build OutServe into the largest LGBT employee resource group in the world serving thousands of U.S. military personnel.

OutServe played a pivotal role in the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

About Candice

Candice Ammori has lived in and worked in SE Asia, NYC and Detroit and studied and worked in policy, finance, tech and data science.

After pivoting her career into climate tech over the last couple years, she's starting the On Deck Climate Tech Fellowship to help others do the same and connect them with climate technologists, policy experts and investors.
