Dead or Alive (How can we truly live)
Ephesians 1:4-9
1. Mankind is broken we are all spiritually dead
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
A. You can’t be Good enough
Romans 3: 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
B. You can’t work for it
Isaiah 64:6 We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away
C. You can’t be Born into it
John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[b] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
1. What will be your destiny?
John 3:19 And this is the judgement: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
A. To remain a spiritual orphan
John 14: 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[a] in you.
B. To be adopted by God and receive spiritual life
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
C. We have to repent and believeMark 1:14-15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
