R.E.C.O.V.E.R.Y. (Can God really Change me?)

V-oluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.

I. WHERE DO MY CHARACTER DEFECTS COME FROM?

 My Chromosomes Genetics explain predisposition but don’t excuse sin!

 My Circumstances Character defects are often attempts to fill unmet needs.

 My Choices Character defects are often positive qualities being misused.

II. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO CHANGE THEM?

1. Because I’ve had them So Long

2. Because I Identify with them.

3. Because they have a Payoff .

4. Because Satan discourages me.

III. HOW DO I COOPERATE WITH GOD’S CHANGE PROCESS? Rom. 12:2

1. Focus on changing one at a time. Prov. 17:24

2. Focus on Victory Day at a Time Matt 6:34

3. Focus on Gods Power not Will Power Jeremiah 12:23

4. Focus on what I Want , not what I Don't Want Phil. 4:8

5. Focus on doing good, not Feeling good Gal. 5:16

6. Focus on people who help me, not hinder me. Proverbs 27:1

7. Focus on Progress not Perfection Phil 1:6

You are the Salt of the Earth

The Internal Change

You are the Light of the World

The External Change

You are the Result of the Salt

The Eternal Change

Fathers Day

“Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (auhsoJ 42:51-41 NKJV)

GOD OUR FATHER

Fear the LORD

Even the fathers of the men I chose to lead did not fear me because they did not serve me. But the ones who fear me serve me

A father that has a Holy fear of God will stand up for Holiness

A father that has a Holy fear of God will lead his family through the fire. ...this may mean you will have to change some things in the home that you just thought that's just what we do. You may change the movies, clothes, even people that come into your home.

The men that lead in a way that recognizes, reveer's, @ reflects on God's power and grace are the ones he wants to use.

Fear the Lord

Serve the LORD

We will serve the LORD

Joshua was a man that did what was right even though the men around him did wrong.

He did not justify his actions with other men.

He had already served the Lord and was the example to his family.

Fathers Day

Dead or Alive (How can we truly live)

Ephesians 1:4-9

1. Mankind is broken we are all spiritually dead

Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

A. You can’t be Good enough

Romans 3: 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

B. You can’t work for it

Isaiah 64:6 We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away

C. You can’t be Born into it

John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[b] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

1. What will be your destiny?

John 3:19 And this is the judgement: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

A. To remain a spiritual orphan

John 14: 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[a] in you.

B. To be adopted by God and receive spiritual life

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

C. We have to repent and believeMark 1:14-15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Dead or Alive (How can we truly live)

1. R.ealize that I’m not God

2. E.arnestly believe that God Exist, that I matter to Him, and He has the Power to Help me.

Today: Matthew 11:28-30

C.onsciously Choose to commit all my life and will to Christ Care and Control.

1. What could keep me from taking this Step?

a. Pride ; I don’t want to admit I need Help Proverbs 18:12

b. Guilt; I’m ashamed to ask God for Help Psalm 40:12

c. Fear; I’m afraid of what I’d have to give up Mark 8:36

d. Worry; Keeps you from surrendering to the care and control of Christ.1 Peter 5:7

e. Doubt; My faith seems so small Matt. 17:20

2. How do I take this Step?

a. I accept Jesus as my Savior Act 16:31

b. I accept God’s Word as my Standard 2 Tim. 3:16

c. I accept God’s Will as my Strategy Ps 40:8

d. I accept God’s Power as my Strength Phil. 4:13

e. I accept God’s Presence knocking on my Hearts door Revelation 3:20

I accept the opportunity to let go & Let God, Today I surrender My Life to Jesus Christ,

I no longer want to be an Orphan; I desire to be a part of the Family of God_______

I accept the challenge in front of me to surrender my Heart fully to God, I have been

Holding back, Today I know I am Saved, but Today I want to Rededicate my Life to Serve Jesus______

I Believe in the Road for Freedom, I will pray for Celebrate Recovery at U3b._______
