Britain is considering adopting an Australian-style social media ban for under-16s, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer launching a consultation process.

It comes after a letter from more than 60 Labour MP's warned that the country risked being left behind in protecting kids from online harm.

The petition was organised by Fred Thomas, the MP for Plymouth Moor View in south-west England.
