As a mother, I found that majority of my time was spent on autopilot and I had to learn how to be present in my children's lives and during family time. As a wife, I wanted to improve my self care routine and incorporate mindfulness as a way to exercise being present in the moment. Autopilot has its benefits as an aid in our survival, but should not be our only method of navigation throughout our day.

Have you lost a love one and wished you had more time with them? What if we each got 100 years, would that be enough? For me, the answer was no because no matter how many years, one the last day I will still wish for more time. And that’s when it hit me… I realized that there is no amount of time that I would be okay with. Oftentimes TIME is the main thing that is taken for granted until we have run out. I vowed to make sure I spent more time with my family, calling them and video chatting more because I don’t know how much time we really have left so I want to make the best of it.

I’ve loved you, I love you and you’ll be in my heart forever.

I was very torn between acceptance and denial when it came to my diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder. I wished I had been more informed about the side effects of taking medication for my disorder. I remember the first black female therapist, Dr. Hill told me that, "I don't think you need medication, I think you need to talk". I am forever grateful for her because she helped me get back on my feet and take back my life!

When I became an adult, I would have very intense sexual nightmares that reminded me of the sexual trauma I had done everything in my power to erase from my memory. Have you ever struggled with forgiving someone? Have you ever wondered if you should that person back into your life again? Join me in today's conversation about forgivingness and how I forgave my dad for not being active in my life as a child. When I became an adult, I found that forgiving my dad was a necessary element in my growth and the ability to be vulnerable with him, myself and others. Forgiveness is not easy because you have to admit that you felt that emotion that we really try to avoid... pain.
