What do we mean when we say “God is love”? The idea that God embraces us as we are and that his love for us compels and challenges us to perfection are not incompatible.  It is like a mother who loves her child as they are but wants them to grow and develop as a person. God receives us as we are so we can eventually be complete and perfect in Him. We should strive to think about Christ every minute. We won't, but we will think about Him more than we would have otherwise. Hebrews 10:1-14

Are we perfect the way we are right now? What do we need to change to go from what we are to where we ought to be? Can people change? What does it take to change as a person? What harm does a guilty conscience have on a human soul? Guilt drives us to avoid the object of our guilt.  When we feel guilty, we avoid his presence and holiness.  We need to overcome that because it keeps us from the wonder of his bountiful love. Is there anything more valuable than a guiltless conscience when we approach God? Hebrews 9:6-15
