Mike Richards, of MIKE RICHARDS TAXIDERMY is back with us this week. He is going to talk about his black bear hunting experiences……AND then he will tell us how to care and prepare your game for the taxidermist. The better planning and preparation you do, the better mount you will have. We have convinced KEVIN WALLENFANG to come back. Kevin is the Big Game Ecologist with Wisconsin DNR and we are going to talk about the current deer population and the projections for this year’s upcoming seasons and what we can expect out there.

Are you ready for duck and goose hunting yet? For some tips, join us with Taylor Finger, Wisconsin DNR Migratory Game Bird Ecologist. The migratory bird program manages Wisconsin’s duck, goose and mourning dove populations and sets annual season regulations.
Taylor received his bachelor’s degree in wildlife management and biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in waterfowl ecology from the University of Western Ontario, so he has a lot to tell us. Capt. Brandon Stanton is a licensed USCG Captain and has been fishing Lake Huron and the Saginaw Bay Michigan for almost 30 years! He has some tips on fishing these fisheries and on using the Macks Lure Wiggle Hoochie! “The famous WIGGLE HOOCHIE is pre-rigged with a laser sharp hook on a duo lock snap swivel for easy hook change. The bill design gives it a quick, erratic vibrating action that drives walleye, salmon, trout and others crazy.” Capt. Stanton will tell us how this works for him.

Kevin Wallenfang, Wisconsin DNR Big Game Ecologist, has agreed to come back and talk with us again! Kevin will be talking about the County Deer Advisory Council Meetings this fall. Each county in Wisconsin has a County Deer Advisory Council (CDAC) to provide input and recommendations to the department on deer management within their county. Councils work with local department staff to schedule meetings, provide community outreach and an opportunity for public input, review population data and deer impacts on forests and agriculture, develop 3-year recommendations on county population objectives and create annual antlerless harvest quotas. The Public Comment Period is coming up in September…..mark your calendars! Next we will learn what is new and great in the fishing world from Darrell Toliver, who is with Mepp’s Lures and Mister Twister Lures. Darrell has been with us before and we all know he knows the fishing world, lures and techniques.

Join us along with Kirk Donskey from “Northern Battery”. We are going to talk about what batteries are for what use – boats, RVs, bikes, etc, and how to maintain and store the batteries in the off-season. Kirk knows batteries! Next is a very important topic – childhood cancer and the BADGER CHILDHOOD CANCER NETWORK (BCCN). Chuck Pohlman, of Wilderness Fish & Game, recently fished in a benefit fishing tournament for BCCN will talk about his experiences in the tournament.
