In der deutschen Presse bekommt man schnell den Eindruck, dass Asien, analog zu den Reitern des Kahns, das Land überrennt. Die Realität ist eine andere. Tatsächlich wird es nicht-deutschen – und besonders asiatischen – Firmengründern in Deutschland schwer gemacht. Dabei brauchen wir dringend mehr asiatisches Investment in DE – in Erneuerbare, in anspruchsvolle Arbeitsplätze, in F&E … Bei Deutschlands „Kredit-Instituten“ ist diese Einsicht noch nicht angekommen – diese stecken in den 80ern fest.

Asiatische Fantastik ist spätestens seit Cixin Liu kein Geheimtipp mehr. Während der Hype um das Drei-Körper-Problem verstiegen sich nicht eben wenige Kommentatoren zu der Behauptung, dass es Scifi, Fantasy etc., vorher in Asien nicht gegeben hätte. Das ist natürlich Quatsch, zeigt aber, wie die Nabelschau des Westens gelegentlich funktioniert.
Aktuelle asiatische Fantastik muss sich einerseits mit der enormen Nachfrage, aber auch andererseits mit dem (Neo)Orientalismus und der grassierenden Asienphobie auseinandersetzen.
In dieser Folge unterhalte ich mit DEM Fantastikexperten des Westens, mit Klaus Varias, welcher den meisten Fantastik-interessierten durch ABMGW bekannt ist. Wir versuchen, in dieser Folge der o.g. Nabelschau etwas entgegenzusetzen, klären über den Orientalismus bzw. die Asienphobie auf und outen uns last but not least als totale Asia-Fantastik-Fans, die letztlich auch nur an der Oberfläche kratzen können.

Zwei Zonendoedel reisen NICHT von „Hamburg nach Haiti“ – im Kopf, mit dem Finger auf der Landkarte – sondern von Hongkong nach Hiddensee. Jan von Rissenbeck lebt schon eine Weile auf einer kleinen Insel in Hongkong. Er erzählt, was hinter den Spielorten von „Li und der Schatz“ steckt und gibt ein paar touristische Tipps.
Dank ähnlicher Sozialisation haben wir beide auch eine sehr spezielle Meinung zu Hiddensee – auch ein Ort des Major Li.
Ein gemütliches Kamingespräch über die Sehnsuchtsorte dieser Welt, ohne allzu sehr ins Schwärmen oder gar unhaltbar in die Vergangenheit abzugleiten.

Ich unterhalte mich mit Dr. Jia Jia und Prof. Roman Rofalski über die Musik im Spannungsfeld zwischen Asien und Europa. Wir streifen die populäre Musik Asiens und gehen von MOUSE LOVE RICE über BABYMETAL, MIKU HATSUNE, WAGAKKI BAND bis hin zu KUNQU. Dabei werfen wir zahlreiche Fragen auf, die wir allesamt nicht abschließend beantworten können.
Asiatische Musik hat auch in der nahen Vergangenheit die westliche Kultur massgeblich beeinflusst. Bekanntetstes Beispile ist Bertolt Brechts Verfremdungseffekt:
Der Schauplatz ist Moskau im Jahr 1935. Das Who is Who der europäischen Avantgarde hat sich versammelt, um die Arbeit ihres wichtigsten chinesischen Kollegen, des Pekinger Opernmeisters Mei Lanfang, zu sehen. Unter ihnen ist auch der deutsche Dramatiker Bertolt Brecht, der in Meis Aufführungen die ästhetische Wirkung sieht, die er in seinem eigenen Werk entfalten will: eine Wirkung, die er bald den „Verfremdungseffekt“ nennen wird. 1936 schreibt Brecht seinen berühmten Essay „Über die chinesische Schauspielkunst“, in dem er – zustimmend – argumentiert, dass das chinesische Theater Schauspieler und Publikum von den Figuren und Ereignissen eines Stücks entfremdet, indem es die vierte Wand durchbricht und den Symbolismus dem Realismus vorzieht.

Die Kun-Oper bzw. Kun-Melodie kann ihre Wurzeln bis in die 1300er-Jahre zurückverfolgen. Die Kun-Oper und die Peking-Oper klingen hier ähnlich, die Kun-Oper erscheint etwas melodischer, wobei die Texte dem Fluss der Musik folgen. Die Sprache ist ein Dialekt aus dem Suzhou-Gebiet, welches in den 1300er-Jahren als Beamtensprache (Mandarin) galt.
