In this episode, I review In Bruges, the dark crime comedy starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes.

I discuss Ray and Ken’s hilarious banter, the movie’s vulnerable emotional moments, Ralph Fiennes’ rageful performance as Harry, and the completely unpredictable ending.

The beginning was slower than I expected, but the characters, dark humor, and incredible ending made this a movie I highly recommend.

In this episode, I rank all six movies I watched last week from worst to best.

The movies include The Road, Ronin, The Fast and the Furious, The End of Oak Street, Insidious: Out of the Further, and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.

This week gave me a one-star disappointment, some entertaining action movies, a surprisingly great dinosaur movie, and two perfect five-star films.

I discuss Kris and Billy’s relationship, Gillian Anderson’s perfect performance, the creative mythology surrounding Little Death, and the hilarious way the movie pokes fun at classic slasher tropes.

The movie was funny, sexy, bloody, beautifully shot, and filled with creative practical effects and CGI.

The ending left me smiling, completely satisfied, and wanting more from this world.

My rating: 5 out of 5.

The Fast and the Furious was a fun action thriller with entertaining street races, car chases, and heists.

I enjoyed Brian and Dom's relationship, Brian's storyline, and the ridiculous energy of the movie.

The middle became a little boring, and I wanted more heists, but the final mission and everything involving Brian and Dom near the ending saved the movie for me.

I rated The Fast and the Furious 3 out of 5.

The Favourite might be my favourite Yorgos Lanthimos movie.

Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz were great, and their rivalry kept me invested in who would come out on top.

Olivia Colman gave my favourite performance as the childish and easily manipulated Queen Anne.

Nicholas Hoult was also a great addition who brought even more tension to the story.

The movie felt slightly too long near the end, but I still loved it.

I rated The Favourite 4.5 out of 5.

Insidious: Out of the Further was boring, predictable, and not scary.

The characters were not interesting, the story felt familiar, and the movie relied too heavily on cheap jump scares.

The ghosts and villains were unintentionally funny, although the disturbing dental scenes and the protagonist’s powers gave the movie a few interesting moments.

Nothing could save this movie from being extremely boring, and I wanted it to end early on.

I rated Insidious: Out of the Further 1 out of 5.

The Road completely pulled me into its dark and believable post-apocalyptic world.

The haunting scenery, constant tension, and emotional story kept me engaged the entire time.

Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee were amazing, and I loved the contrast between the boy’s innocence and his father’s determination to protect him.

The flashbacks with Charlize Theron gave the story even more emotional weight, and the ending was beautifully acted.

I rated The Road 5 out of 5.

The Rivals of Amziah King was one of the most disappointing movies I’ve watched recently. The first half was especially boring, the musical elements became annoying, and I wanted the movie to end.

Matthew McConaughey was fine, and there were a few funny moments, but the characters and community storyline did not work for me. The second half was slightly better, but it was not enough to save the movie.

The End of Oak Street surprised me. I expected something average or disappointing, but I ended up really enjoying the family, suspense, emotional moments, violence, and prehistoric creatures.

Anne Hathaway was great as a mother protecting her children, and Ewan McGregor’s character took an unexpected turn. Some effects and moments near the ending did not completely work for me, but this was still a great surprise.

I rated The End of Oak Street 4 out of 5.
