The federal opposition leader Angus Taylor has defended the Liberal party's decision to preference One Nation ahead of the independent candidate in the upcoming Farrer by-election in regional NSW.

The vote will be held on the 9th of May and is considered a major electoral test for One Nation, following a recent surge in opinion polls.
