You had the whole conversation before they said a word. You knew the tone, you knew the face they'd make, and by the time you actually talked to them you'd already softened what you were going to say — because of a reaction that never happened.
In this episode, Kim and Coach Suzette get into mind reading: what your brain is actually doing when it decides what someone else thinks, and how to tell what you know from what you filled in.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• What mind reading is, and the moment reading the room turns into reading minds
• Why your brain fills gaps with predictions — and why that's the efficient thing for it to do
• Why a story you made up can feel so completely certain
• Negativity bias, and why the gap gets filled with the worst version by default
• Why harmonizers mind read more than most people, and what it costs them
• The loop: notice a cue, interpret it, take responsibility for it, adjust yourself
• How mind reading quietly confuses the person on the other end
• Asking for clarity — and why believing the answer is the part most people skip
• The three-negatives, three-positives exercise Suzette used in relationship coaching
• This week's practice: what do I actually know, and where did my brain fill in?

YOUR PRACTICE:
The next time you catch yourself deciding what someone thinks, feels, or means, stop and ask yourself two things: What do I actually know? And where has my brain filled in the gaps? Then ask for clarity when you can — and when the person answers you, take them at their word and keep going.
If you're stuck waiting on facts you don't have yet, come up with three positive explanations alongside the negative one your brain handed you first.
