“Hustling” has been such a buzzword for much of our working lives but recently people’s feelings are changing.
What used to be seen as glamorous and the only way to go ahead is now being viewed as unhealthy and unnecessary.
So naturally we wanted to unpack why.
Is there such a thing as a good hustle and at what point does it turn toxic?
How can you identify if you are in a workplace that creates a toxic hustle culture?
And most importantly, what should you do if you have taken the hustle mentality too far?

Think back to your high school days.
Not your questionable fashion sense and cringeworthy hairstyles (lol) - we are talking about the kinds of things you were told about your future.
“You need to go to uni to be successful”,
“You can either go to uni or get a trade”,
“You better figure out what you want to do and do it forever”.
The list goes on but you get the gist; we were really made to feel like uni was the “best” option.
The good news? Times are changing and there are SO many more pathways and different jobs that probably didn’t exist when you were at school.
So we wanted to find out, how much weight does a university degree really hold these days?
And who better to ask than an expert in all things recruiting and hiring! Meet Carlie Bowden, Director of Product & Project Services at The Nudge Group.
We chat to Carlie about what hiring managers really look for in a candidate, how to figure out if a degree really is necessary for your career path and how to best position yourself if you are going for a career change.
Plus we hear Carlie’s impressive career journey where she proves that uni isn’t the only path and she gives us all her tips on how to stand out in the job market.
If you want to connect with Carlie or reach out to her for advice you can find her on LinkedIn.
