  • #06: How to deal with lockdown

Hey Gals, coming to you again with a very timely episode that we felt was important.

The whole purpose of this podcast is to start important conversations and we felt that if we didn’t address the common situation that majority of us find ourselves in then we would be doing a bit of a disservice.

BUT we cannot stress enough, this episode is NOT about adding to the noise or doom and gloom of lockdown.

We wanted to create a resource that can help you understand what you might be feeling at the moment and share some tips that have helped us. If anything else, we simply hope this will give you comfort in knowing that you are not alone.

In the first part of the episode we unpack:

    • The emotions that you have probably felt but didn’t have a name for; including the one that gave us so much clarity
    • The sprint mentality concept and why it could explain why you’re feeling so tired
    • Don’t feel like you are in control of your emotions? Neither did we until we understood ‘emotional contagion’ and how it is at play right now

Then most importantly, we cover some strategies including:

    • The importance of feeding your brain the right things
    • Exploring the concept of flow and how to find yours
    • A super easy exercise you can do every night before you go to sleep
    • How to reframe your thinking and take advantage of lockdown
    • And, possibly the simplest thing you can do to shift your mental state that actually works

The articles referenced throughout the episode are below:

    • New York Times Article - Adam Grant
    • Harvard Business Review Article - Scott Berinato
    • Emotional Contagion Article - Naureen Bhullar
    • Being Kind Paper - Jo Cutler, Robin Banerjee

  • #05: Let's talk about the secret to stronger relationships...

    Gooood morning everyone!

We want you to think about the last time you left your comfort zone.

How did you feel beforehand? Why do you think you felt that way?

It’s time to talk about vulnerability.

Like, really, actually talk about it and understand what it means to you.

In recent times, vulnerability has become a hot topic partly due to professor, author and lecturer, Brené Brown.

Join us as we go into:

    • What it actually means to be vulnerable (and how you can do it to make your life even better)
    • Think it’s good to feel comfortable? Wrong. Find out why it can be the death of your progress
    • How to build better teams as a manager (without having to know everything)
    • How to eliminate “transactional calls” (these are really bad for your work relationships)
    • Why you should never do this “mind reading” error
    • How to create a mental checklist so you can recognise when you are feeling vulnerable and what to do about it
    • Plus much more

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it's having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it's our greatest measure of courage.” - Brené Brown

Here are the resources we mentioned in the ep:
