Early in life Judith Fisher wanted to be on stage. She was also an avid reader and loved writing. She says she would lose herself in someone else’s story. Judy told us that she still reads constantly and is a child at heart. Vivid descriptions were given of her novels in where the protagonist goes through terrible times but comes out with positive messaging and surprise endings. She realistically has a novel approach to life without wearing a costume of being somebody else.

Summary: Sandra M. Smith grew up in Richmond, Virginia and attended a “model school” that was a public school on the other side of town with a diverse population. Her mother often took her to the library. She always liked writing and wanted to write a children’s book. She became a special educator and transitioned to being a school counselor. She met her “bestie” while attending college and had a lot in common. They often discussed how their life circumstances ran parallel. The book BESTIES IN THE BATTLE: Cancer & Friendship Colliding is Sandra’s first book the discloses their relationship and difficulties. Their prayerful spiritual connection kept them both covered. Her background within a diverse population has prepared her for the work that is on her horizon.

Bio: Sandra M. Smith is an educator with experience in the areas of exceptional education and school counseling. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, in her hometown, Richmond, Virginia. VCU is where she met her bestie, Regina Blagmon. Sandra is a neuroendocrine cancer survivor who wants to help others make the most beneficial moves toward winning against cancer and other serious diseases. Sandra founded the Regina Blagmon Memorial Scholarship with financial support from the Blagmon family and contributors. She serves as a minister at the Children of God Victory Tabernacle. She lives in Chesterfield County, Virginia, with her husband and children. She loves watching documentaries and cooking at home in her kitchen. Her most recent interest is crocheting. Dr. Joan Vernikos is a vibrant 90-year old former director of NASA who has a PASSION FOR HELPING PEOPLE. Joan Vernikos PhD (1934-)was born to Greek parents in Alexandria, Egypt. A pharmacologist from the Univ. of London, she taught medical students at Ohio State University before being recruited by NASA in 1964. Former Director of NASA's Life Sciences (1993-2000) she is a recognized leader in the field of stress management and coping and a pioneer of space medicine. A woman of many talents, she and her husband Geoffrey Hazzan had a chocolate truffle shop in London in the 1980s where she invented the first all-white chocolate truffle in Europe. Stories of that challenge and the recipes she created are in their 2012 book 'Adventures in Chocolate' under her married name, Joan Hazzan, co-authored with her husband.

Her NASA research led to the discovery of a revolutionary link between gravity and healthy aging. Her inaugural book, published in 2004, titled 'The G-Connection: Harness Gravity and Reverse Aging' with a foreword by John Glenn, has been translated into five languages and was honored with the 2009 Book Award from the International Academy of Astronautics. 'Stress Fitness for Seniors' followed in 2009. 'Sitting Kills, Moving Heals: How Simple Everyday Movement Will Prevent Pain, Illness and Early Death -- and Exercise Alone Won't' (2011) emphasizes that the key to lifelong health is more than just traditional gym exercise, but a natural lifestyle of constant, natural movement that resists the force of gravity. In 2018 she was inducted into the International Astronautical Federation Hall of Fame.

This episode celebrates the one year anniversary of the UNBOXED on Purpose Podcast. We launched the first episode January 18, 2024, and have released a new episode weekly. To God alone we give glory! Bio: Cliff Ratza grew up in Chicago and attended top schools in Illinois before moving to major cities across the U.S. to develop his career. Cliff is a scholar, having parlayed multiple degrees (math and physics, business and computer science) into a business career spanning numerous jobs, companies and industries. He is a Writing Coach, Sales and Marketing Consulting, and Novelist. Coach Cliff is such an inspiration because amidst his achievements, including being featured on the Chicago Tribune last year, he exercises humility. He returned to Chicago twenty years later to start his consulting business and begin writing novels. He is a published author of 15 books.

From childhood Janice Allen Jackson unknowingly was drawn to local government administration. She also found a passion for the beauty of nature and the notion of being high on sunshine. She holds her parents in high esteem and self-confidently walks through life in integrity, the foundation of her identity. A family friend taught her a valuable out-of-the-box lesson that you keep going despite others who say what you cannot do.

She successfully pivoted from government service to being self-employed, which requires a different skill set. Because she shifts while praying daily, career-wise she does not regret anything that has happened and stands on Romans 8:28. She believes that there is a better way and that she was called to God’s intended purpose. She knows that she works for God. Janice Allen Jackson is a management consultant; podcaster; and speaker. She is Principal of Janice Allen Jackson and Associates, LLC, where she provides management consulting services to local government and non-profit organizations.
