DORIAN TRAUBE is an associate professor in the Suzanne Dworak Peck School of Social Work. She developed Parents as Teachers @ USC Telehealth, the first partnership of its kind between a national home visitation model and a university-based telehealth clinic. Her research agenda focuses on the utilization of technological solutions to provide early childhood health, education, and parent support services. She has expertise in children's mental health, child maltreatment prevention, family support interventions, and youth substance abuse prevention and intervention. Dr. Traube received her doctorate and master's degree in social work from Columbia University, and is a licensed clinical social worker in California and New York. See her full bio here.

Regardless of how we become parents, raising kids will bring up all kinds of past issues for each of us. It makes sense because we are taking on a new and important role. But, how do we know how to parent? We may read a book or two. But, whether we realize it or not, we think back to how we were raised by our parents and what we've seen others do.
