The Big Little Data Story – Lisa Schutz, CEO of Verifier
Lisa Schutz, CEO of Verifier, has lived the “data dream”, at least as she sees it. She sold her first data analytics company, InFact Decisions, which focused on the strategic uses of data, regardless of business issue or the industry. But with Verifier, she has a different mission- to give the consumer more control over their information and to enable them to share it more seamlessly in the process of streamlining loan application. Looking at data as a resource for the consumer, and empowering their use of it, could change the entire way we think of as verifiable identity.

  • AI is coming to help!
There is little question that AI will loom large in our future. It is already present in almost all the new technologies we rely on. The question is whether that future is hopeful or dystopian? Will AI create more fulfilling work and a more fulfilling human existence or are we creating the beginning of the end of humanity as we know it. There are strong cases to be made for both, and likely, we will see some of both in the future.
Today, we discuss this with two realistic utopians. David Orban is a renown leader in global technology and the possibilities of AI. Himi Khan is the EVP of Product Management at Clinc, who specializes in AI natural voice interfaces, with an extra focus on financial technologies. Both have looked at AI and how it can change the nature of financial services and more. We are honored to have them as our guests today. Also, Penny Crosman from American Banker joins us today to discuss some of the big stories around Fintech, including the ever unfolding Equifax scandal.

  • ICO’s are Hot. Can they include more people in investing?
Since the first Initial Coin Offering in March 2017, ICO's have taken off as the latest greatest way to raise venture capital. ICO's offer exciting potential for financial inclusion. Current regulations can create a high threshold for participation in Venture Capital in attempts to protect from schemes, and from people losing their entire fortunes. ICO's go around this, and many have wondered if the ICO could be a new form of a Ponzi scheme. Those highly involved in ICOs vehemently disagree, and are looking at the ways that ICOs encourage a financial inclusion and openness that has never been available to investors before.
Today, we are speaking with George Burke and Chandra Duggirala, Founders of Aqua Foundation, Kenzi Wang, Co-Founder of Superbloom Capital, and David del Ser the Director of Inclusive Fintech, and of the Catalyst Fund from BFA. We are getting the view of ICO's from those who see the possibilities- and want to make sure that the good always outweighs the bad.
