  • Will AI change Banking for good?
There are several technologies that are challenging to banking. We talk about those on the front edge so often, it seemed like a good time to check in on where the middle is- How much have banks/ banking adapted to the accelerated technological shifts? How are they using AI, bots, machine learning? Have they been able to utilize their tremendous data to serve customers? And can they implement any of these without implementing all of them? (Aired 12/28)
Today, Brett is joined by JP Nicols, co-host and Host of Serial Intrapreneur, and by Philippe Van Fraechem, the General Manager, North Europe & Worldwide Programme Director at EFMA to give us a check up on where the banks really are and what we can hope for them in 2018.

  • Digitizing the Bank
For a long while, it was imagined that Fintechs would completely disrupt the banks, replacing a system laden with legacy technologies. A few years ago, it became very apparent that banks and fintechs would need to partner to be successful. Most fintechs needed bank partnerships to scale significantly. And most banks needed the innovation and imagination that fintechs brought with them in order to reimagine themselves as customer centric.
We are seeing many versions of this partnership: Open APIs, platformification within banks. Platforms or Marketplaces outside of banks. Accelerators and Innovation Labs in banks or as bank partners.
Today, JP Nicols, Ron Shevlin, and Simon Spencer host our guest,
Claire Calmejane, the Director of Innovation and Digital Centre Excellence at LLoyds Banking Group to discuss the different approaches and what she thinks really works.

  • Bitcoin: Bubble or Just Beginning
Bitcoin is soaring. It captured enough pop culture attention that the Big Bang Theory- with 12.6 million viewers in the US alone- featured it prominently in this week’s episode.
Along with that, it has reached the $10,000 USD milestone, and is now acting as a digital asset. Steve Wozniak spoke at the Money 2020 conference and explained that Bitcoin is a better store of value than gold or USD because it is finite and mathematical, so it is constant. But with the spike in value, many people are wondering if this is a bubble or just the beginning.
Today, Brett hosts 4 experts in bitcoin:
Brian Roemmele- renaissance man, entrepreneur, and payments expert.
Bailey Reutzel- US Editor of Coin Desk.
Gabe Sukenik- the founder of Morph Token, an instant crypto portfolio exchange.
Suleman Din is a technology editor at SourceMedia’s American Banker and Financial Planning.
