What is Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and how does it show up for business owners?

As an ADHD entrepreneur, you face potential rejection from a variety of sources on a daily basis: clients, prospects, friends, banks - rejection could come from literally anywhere at any time! But what happens when your experience of rejection is particularly intense and hard to recover from? What can you do to overcome it and move forward?

In this episode I discuss some of the different sources of rejection you might experience and delve into Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and how that can show up for those of us who are neurodivergent.

I walk you through some simple steps to get you out of your negative stories when you experience rejection, plus I offer a completely different perspective on rejection altogether. This might surprise you - but perhaps that intense reaction to rejection could be more of a friend to you than foe!? Perhaps, it could be exactly the message you need to ensure you start prioritising yourself.

Is ADHD really a superpower?

You might have heard the phrase “ADHD is my superpower” out of the mouth of someone recently diagnosed with the condition, then two seconds later you read a stat about how ADHDers are more likely to take their own life. With the recent explosion in diagnoses and relatable content sharing the reality of living with ADHD, it can get pretty noisy out there. So which is it - a life-hindering disability or the secret sauce of all the world’s greatest minds?

In this episode, I share the story of my journey to discovering I have an ADHD brain, relatively late in life. I also share my take on whether I think it means us ADHDers are gifted, afflicted, or maybe something else entirely (but definitely NOT just jumping on a trend!)

If you, your child or someone you know could have or knows they have an ADHD brain, I also share some guidance and recommendations of resources to help dial up the “gifts” and minimise the “afflictions.”

What happens when you serve from an overflowing cup rather than just a full one!?

Actual magic, that's what! In this episode, I'm joined by Jo Jerodene - the wealthy woman's self-worth, soul-guide & spiritual teacher.

We discuss whether society understands ’free will’ and how our purpose as humans is so much more than living a conventional pre-ordained life inside the matrix.

Is ADHD just another social media trend?

In this episode, I am chuffed to bits to be joined by Kyrus Keenan Westcott, Social Media Influencer and passionate advocate of the mental health conversation, through his own late diagnosis of severe depression, anxiety and eventually ADHD.

Ky shares his journey into social media, via a brutal injury that kept him stuck at home “before it was cool!’, plus some of his secrets to creating funny, relatable content to further the mental health conversation every single day.

Ky and I reveal what it really means to be an introvert and why we find socialising exhausting! We also discuss some of the interesting quirks of having an ADHD brain - including our hot take on why so many people are currently being diagnosed, plus why advice like ’just try harder!’ doesn’t work.

We also discuss mental health diagnoses in a wider context, why these are often perceived as labels or excuses - and how we can do better collectively to talk about mental health and support each other.

What happens when your microphone fails and the episode you thought you recorded doesn’t exist? Well, you ambush a beloved business buddy with an invitation to record an episode together and hope she says yes!

In this episode I’m joined by the thoroughly effervescent fellow creative, ADHDer and ginger, Jude Schweppe. We celebrate Winter Solstice, take a beat to reflect on the past year and all its messy, mucky, crazy wonderful glory. We discuss what we’ve learned from the highs, the lows, and everything else in between. Be warned: there are many, MANY, swears. Blame the Irish in us!!

We talk about our expectations of the coming year, how things have panned out quite differently (!) and what we learned in the process (often the hard way!). As Jude quite rightly says, "if you want to make God laugh, tell her your plans!!”

We reflect on our parallel journeys - discovering we have ADHD brains - and how that manifests for us in terms of opportunities and challenges. We also discuss the curse and blessing of being a ‘many-thinged’ person, and how embracing this about ourselves has been a liberating experience of self-acceptance.

We speak about the importance of people and community for perspective, connection and creativity, and as a regular grounding force. Because when those ideas come, they are a visceral experience and it’s easy for us to get lost inside the big picture and lose focus on what is needed in the moment - like heating the beans and putting them on the toast for your kids!

We discuss taking alternative approaches to networking and discovering the joys of LinkedIn, which is where we happened to meet! We also share our intentions for the coming year and share some insightful nuggets for you to ponder on as you set yours.

How can we detach from the outcome and ditch all of life’s ‘shoulds’?!

In this episode, I’m joined by Naomi and Martin, Relationship Coaches who teach people how to “relationship”! They introduce us to the most important thing about relationships that no one ever teaches us: how figuring out your relationship with yourself will make a much bigger difference than we think. 

We explore how it can have a ripple effect throughout the rest of your life, not just in your relationships, allowing us to detach from the outcome in terms of how others view us. We discuss the ways in which us humans get stuck in patterns and seek them out (even if they are unhealthy) and how we can take a different approach.

We also look at the importance of asking yourself the right questions, and why questions are so powerful. Naomi shares her personal journey to overcome her fear of public speaking, by releasing her fear of what people think of her, along with her number one trick to becoming more visible online. 

We discuss some of the ’shoulds’ we can pick up in our personal and business journeys, and how freeing it can be to understand how to let go of them in order to live in harmony in all our relationships. We also get a sneak peek into Naomi and Martin’s big plans for the coming year - you won’t want to miss them!
