Ty Sanga is an Emmy Award-Winning Native Hawaiian filmmaker from Kalihi. He won an Emmy for his PBS series Family Ingredients in 2018. His short film "Stones" screened at Sundance in 2011. It was also the first Native Hawaiian film to premiere at the prestigious festival. His short film, "Hae Hawaii", about the events surrounding the illegal overthrow has screened at film festivals throughout the world. This year, his feature documentary "Hokule’a: Finding the Language of the Navigator" won best made in hawaii feature at Hawaii International Film Festival.
