Under The Abbey Stand

We're back! After a nice break with international action, UTAS are back and raring to go for the run in. Eight games to go, and a mighty relegation battle on our hands, starting with a monster double header over Easter weekend to look forward to. Tom and Jules preview the games away at Barnsley and at home to Wigan with the help of Tracy from Red All Over and Barry from Progress With Unity.

Just the four goals conceded this Saturday, as United travelled to Reading and got royally stuffed. Jord, Jules and Tom put themselves through another painful therapy session-style pod to look back at the game, before looking forward to a welcome week off.

Six pointer? Eight pointer? Who knows, but it's a very, very important game. Jordan and Matt are on Preview Show duties this week to look ahead to a massive game at the bottom of League One for the U's against a Reading side that have got much more to worry about than just three points. To discuss the situation there, Jules also spoke to Matt from the Elm Park Royals podcast to get the lowdown on their dire state of affairs.

Garry Monk introduced himself to the Abbey faithful with a 1-1 draw against Northampton on Saturday, including a fairly positive first half and a drab second one. Jules, Tom and Swindle are on the panel this week looking at another point added to our total, and chatting centre midfield options, Lyle Taylor, and previewing a trip to the league's form team Lincoln on Tuesday night, with the help of Charlie from the Stacey West podcast.

On this week’s preview show, Jordan and Tom get together to look ahead to Garry Monk’s first sermon at the Abbey on Saturday against the Cobblers from Northampton, hoping to repeat what they did to us at their place after we were on the back of a drubbing at London Road. They’re joined by Danny from the It’s All Cobblers To Me podcast to help preview the game.

New manager pod! Not many times you get to say that, and not many seasons you need to say it twice. So for the second and hopefully last time, the UTAS boys assemble to talk through the new man in the United dugout: Garry Monk. Tom, Matt and Jordan chat through their thoughts on what Monk can bring to United and what he needs to do to get to that magic number to keep the U's up this season - as well as touching on that defeat at Bolton on Saturday.

Another bumper preview show this week as Tom, Jules and Matt spend most of the hour trying to calm down from another piss poor performance from the U's on Tuesday night at Stevenage. Trigger warning, there's a lot of chat about Cruyff turns on the edge of your own box. As well as that, they look ahead to the small matter of Bolton away on Saturday with the help of The Fanzone podcast.

The second instalment of our brand new feature is here, where we answer any and all questions that our listeners send in - about United teams past and present. This month, we discuss which players we'd go on holiday with, who are player of the season so far is, and what is the worst United team where each player has made a minimum of 50 appearances.

In the latest episode of UTAS Meets, Jordan sits down with former United manager Gary Brabin to chat through his time with the U's. It might have only been one season, but it was as eventful as any, with Brabin leading United to a second successive play-off final and agonisingly losing again to Torquay. As well as that, to mark February being Heart Month, they chat about Brabin's misdiagnosed heart condition, which ended his playing career.

It's derby day defeat for the U's, and it caps off one of the craziest, and arguably worst, weeks for United in living memory. A suitably demoralised panel of Tom, Jules and Caspell are on hand for an extra long pod to have a look at what went wrong against Posh, preview another big Boro game on Tuesday at Stevenage with the help of League One's most positive fan Matt, and chat about the new manager candidates.
