Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective, I can say, who has lived flesh and blood in my imagination. So when the opportunity arose to record this book, some stories which are in the free domain, I was more than happy. And record breaking, I was able to record this part of the first story in 40 minutes without a mistake! Hopefully.
This story talks of how Ajeet met Byomkesh for the first time. Ajeet was done with his University and wanted, like any other educated bengali, to do wonders in the field of literature and writing. His father had left him a good amount of money in the bank and was able to live comfortably in a boarding house without really worrying about anything.
This boarding house had 6 other tenants - the main owner and few others. Most of them lived here, worked in busy Calcutta and returned home to the outskirts by the end of the week. The rent was affordable, almost cheap, including wholesome meals. And the company great. The tenants were all happy until one day, one tenant Ashwini Babu is found dead in his quarters. Did he commit suicide? Was he murdered? How did the murderer enter the closed house? Why would Ashwini Babu want to end his life? Was he being troubled by thoughts or unknown people?
