What does it take to build a platform when the world keeps telling you to stay quiet?
Carla Hazzam was born in Beirut three days before doctors said she wouldn't survive. She grew up in a war zone, lost her uncle at 14, survived illness, divorce, a major accident, and a year battling vertigo -- and still walked across a stage with a broken arm and broken neck to collect her master's degree with high honors.
Today she's a podcast host, Zumba instructor, teacher, project manager, and mom of three -- including a son on the autism spectrum who she says taught her more about love and patience than anything else in her life. Oh, and she's finishing her PhD.In this episode, Carla sits down with Scott Hoyt to talk about how she discovered fantasy sports through her partner built The Game Changers podcast from scratch, and why she's on a mission to give a microphone to the people the industry overlooks.
She also opens up about Beyond the Beatz -- a show dedicated to the human stories behind the smiles -- and shares a moment that stopped her in her tracks: a friend who told her that a single check-in message from Carla may have saved her life.
This one is different.

-Growing up in war and what it taught her about resilience
- How she stumbled into the fantasy sports world
- Why she intentionally books guests with 80 followers, not 80,000
- The philosophy behind The Game Changers and Beyond the Beatz
