In December of 1968, a brutal murderer was orchestrating a campaign of terror in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not satisfied with the act of killing, he taunted law enforcement and the public, writing a series of bizarre and threatening letters to local newspapers. Through cryptic and baffling content — including ciphers, some of which have never been solved — the psychopath played his twisted game. Reporters initially dubbed the man the "Cipher Killer," but the murderer chose a different, more sinister name for himself - The Zodiac. While law enforcement were only able to account for five, Zodiac would eventually claim to have murdered thirty-seven people.
By 1971, authenticated communication with The Zodiac had ceased. Then, three years later, the elusive fugitive resurfaced one last time, sending a small number of communiqués, before disappearing for good. What had begun with shocking abruptness slowly dissolved into mysterious uncertainty. To this day, The Zodiac’s true identity remains one of the twentieth century’s greatest unsolved true crime mysteries…
Author Michael F. Cole, computer engineer and true crime researcher, learned of the story years ago and like so many others, soon became fascinated, finding out all he could about the tragic, yet gripping tale of a twisted mind bent on murder - and deception. Webmaster of the popular and thought-provoking website, zodiacrevisited.com, Cole recently finished work on a three volume book set, titled, The Zodiac Revisited, recounting the story of the Zodiac in incredible detail and offering new insights into the possible motives of the man who claimed that law enforcement would never catch him, a claim which is true to this day. Cole also discusses evidence which he believes points to other, earlier murders that should be considered as possible additional crimes of The Zodiac.
Join me, Scott Stick, producer and host of Undoing Evil, and author Michael F. Cole as we discuss his fascinating and thought-provoking three volume set, The Zodiac Revisited, delving into the crimes and the mystery surrounding the murderer who called himself The Zodiac - only on Undoing Evil!
Manny Grossman, a respected horticulturist and landscape artist from the Bronx, New York, just wanted to, as he put it, "scratch an artistic itch". Now, walking the streets of Yonkers and the Bronx, telling the tale of the Son of Sam murders, discussing Maury Terry's exhaustive research and showing the sites of where it all happened on his YouTube channel has become his life.
Grossman has always been fascinated with the story of the Son of Sam and the theory, put forth in Maury Terry's book, The Ultimate Evil, that there was more than one person involved in the brutal slayings which rocked New York City in 1976 and 1977.
His friendly demeanor, inexhaustible desire to learn more and an interest in working directly with other Son of Sam researchers has helped Grossman garner views and subscribers to a channel which has steadily grown in popularity.

When Zeman and Executive Producer Caitlin Colford receive boxes and boxes of Terry's research, the pair embark on a journey which results in the Netflix docuseries "The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness", a cautionary tale about the search for truth and the price one man pays to take that journey.
