Unequal Sequel

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re dusting off the spell books and returning to the world of Practical Magic 2. 🧙‍♀️

Nearly 30 years after Sally and Gillian Owens first charmed audiences, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back as the witchy sisters, alongside a new generation of Owens women. But with an ancient family curse threatening to unravel everything, it seems the Owens family still haven't quite got the hang of living a normal life.

Does this long-awaited sequel cast a spell of its own, or is it relying on nostalgia and a generous sprinkling of 90s magic? We’re diving into the returning characters, the new faces, the family curse and whether there’s still enough magic left in this franchise to justify another trip down the rabbit hole.

Can Practical Magic 2 conjure up the same charm as the original, or should some things simply be left in the cauldron?

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL PREQUEL - S10 E04 - MICHAEL MARDEN ~

Joining Dave & Rich this week is Michael Marden, producer of the hugely popular Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe.

But this time, Michael steps out from behind the scenes and into the world of Unequal Prequel, where we’re heading back to the beginning to celebrate the films that came before the story.

Michael joins us to pick his Best Prequel, Worst Prequel and Dream Prequel, as we discuss the films that successfully expanded their franchises, the ones that perhaps revealed a little more than we needed to know, and the stories we'd still love to see explored.

Can a prequel actually add something worthwhile to a story we already know, or are some origins better left unexplored? Expect plenty of film chat, some surprising choices, a few questionable decisions and another wonderfully unequal conversation.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-ENOLA HOLMES 3 ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re back on the case with Enola Holmes 3

Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola for another mystery, another investigation and, presumably, another occasion where Sherlock Holmes is reminded that his younger sister is considerably better at getting into trouble than he is.

But does the third instalment keep the momentum going, or is the mystery starting to run out of clues? We’re diving into the case, the characters, the humour and whether Enola Holmes still has enough up her sleeve to justify another sequel.

Can this franchise crack the case of the difficult third film, or has Enola finally met a mystery she can’t solve?

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-INSIDIOUS OUT OF THE FURTHER ~

The Insidious franchise has spent years sending families into haunted houses, creepy dimensions and places they really should have stayed well away from. But does Out of the Further bring something new to the series, or are we once again opening a door that should very much have remained closed?

We dive into the scares, the mythology, the returning ideas and whether there’s still life left in Insidious. Is this a worthy new chapter, or does the franchise need to find its way back home?

We'd love it if you could share our little pod with your friends and family. All you need to do is send them a link like one of these...

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re swinging back into the MCU for Spider-Man: Brand New Day — the next chapter in Tom Holland’s web-slinging adventure.

After the events of No Way Home left Peter Parker with a very different life, we’re asking whether this really is a brand new day for the character, or whether Spider-Man is destined to keep getting pulled back into the same old multiverse-sized problems.

Does Brand New Day give Peter a fresh direction, or is Marvel once again relying on familiar faces, big action and plenty of Spidey nostalgia? We dive into the story, the characters, the MCU connections and whether this latest chapter earns its place in the Spider-Man legacy.

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.
