There is no you and there is no me,
There are only a collection of sensory experiences that individually believe itself to exist as a someone we call “you” and “me”.
To make this conversation easier I (collection of sensory experiences that individually believe itself to exist right here) creates vibrations that the ears of You (the collection of sensory experiences that individually believe itself to exist there) then hear .
Now if we continue like that this it is going to become a very clunky conversation so for the sake of ease I am going to say “I” and “you” but please keep in mind that there is no “I” or “you”
So I talk, you listen to the words.
The majority listening to this podcast they can’t see me and they cant smell me, some can but the majority cant.
For the majority this podcast is audio only, no pictures, no smells, no tastes and no tactile experiences is created, its just sound.
When your sense of hearing picks up my voice it goes to a brain as a nerve signal that is called an action potential.
Some autists have more action potential from the senses than their neurotypical counterparts which means we as autists perceive more stimuli from our senses than neurotypicals does https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... and that is why some might be listening to my voice on this podcast right now and at the same time also smell me, see me or have a taste connected with my voice and the room I am in.
Anyways:
The sense receptors pick up chemicals and the more you pick up the more clear is the sense signal, and that is why you snif to a rose.
To pick up more chemicals to your nose sense receptors.
Those chemicals dock with olfactory neurons in the nose the brain then sense that chemical docking in the neurons and creates an interpretation of what it is.
A body has 100 billion neurons. most in the central nervous system in the brain and spinal cord but we have neurons spread over our entire body.
We sense experience with our entire body
The limbic system or the limbic lobe in the brain sits between the brain stem and underneath the cerebral cortex and simply put the limbic system is where meaning of the bodily sensations are created and they are based on past experiences so this is where the perception of time comes in.
It is also in that creation that a somebody that believes itself to exist is created.
The mind is created in the brain and the brain responds to the mind.
It becomes the observer and participant at the same time and in that it believes itself to exist as someone.
No wonder why we believe ourselves to be complex, complicated, important persons of significance and value, living in a life moving from past to present to future…
But none of that is real.
It is nothing but a collection of sensory experiences that individually believe itself to exist as a someone we then call you and me.
