Public speaking is a skill that many people find challenging. It can be particularly difficult to overcome your fear of public speaking when you have a phobia. The good news is that there are things you can do in order to conquer your fear and become more confident about public speaking.
Join this conversation with Josh Thomas as he shares some of his golden key nuggets to become courageous and confident in public speaking. Among the things, he talks about include getting a lot of repetitive communication sessions in a non-intimidating environment, such as speaking on a podcast where there’s no physical audience to watch you or judge you. Take baby steps. You do not have to achieve perfection in one day. Give yourself enough time. Fear and excitement come from the same place. Most speakers think that they can speak on anything, when in fact that is the worst thing you could do.
When you speak on anything, you stand for nothing and therefore, never become the expert in a particular subject and get on stage.
If you want to get on stage, you need to speak on one subject!

In this episode, we’re joined by Joe Graham, a sales coach and host of the 150K podcast. He has been in sales for over 15 years but transitioned into the sales coaching space over the last few years.
Joe grew up in the Midwest where you are expected to get a job and work in it forever. Just like most of us, Joe had no clue about how to navigate sales when he was starting his journey. He was afraid and nervous, especially in public speaking, which could have deterred his success.
What is intriguing and inspiring about Joe is how he worked his way up to build his confidence and become an outstanding salesperson. He started by looking for people who were better and further in what he was doing and mimicked them. Joe also leveraged different podcasts to level up, and through trial and error, he was able to make it to the top.

Learning to value yourself is a process. It's not something that you can just do overnight. It takes time, patience, and dedication. But the rewards of doing so are worth it. Self-worth is the quality of being worthy of esteem or respect from oneself or others. People with a healthy sense of self-worth are confident in their abilities and know they deserve happiness and success. They believe they're worthy of love, respect, and admiration from other people.
In this episode, Jeff Brekken joins us. Jeff is the CEO and President of Iconic HR and Blue Sky Benefits and has a diverse history, including working on the family farm as a teenager. When he realized his manual labor was worth something, he talked with his dad about it. When his dad asked what he thought he was worth, Jeff had an answer: $1.00 per hour. Since then, he's learned his value and helped others figure out theirs.
After completing 109 custom homes in eight and half years, the 2008 recession was difficult, and he felt he needed a job that wasn't affected by recessions like many other jobs are.
