Paul argues that if the resurrection isn't true then the whole of Christianity is false and Christians have an empty faith and worthless hope.

This section of John's Gospel is an undiluted declaration of the deity of Jesus.--We see what Jesus shares with the Father -v19-23-, what Jesus gives with the Father -v24- and what Jesus receives from the Father -v25-29-.--We see here the equality and harmony of the Father and Son.

At an unnamed feast, and unnamed man is healed by the unnamed Messiah.--Here Jesus gives a sign to the Jews and here we see their response. Instead of asking who the healer was, they ask who the Sabbath breaker was.--They are so lawish that they cannot see the Lord in their midst.

As we come to the nobleman with the dying son the author contrasts the Jewish audience with the Samaritans and Herodians and forces the readers to ask this question---Will we demand signs before we believe or will we believe Jesus at His word---We see in this passage a fickle faith, a fragile faith and a full faith.

We continue with the story of the woman of Samaria and we see how Jesus restored her.--He gave her back her dignity, he gave her back her community, he gave her back her life.
