"Fake it till you make it." This is such a common piece of advice that we see all over the internet in reference to female empowerment, being a #girlboss and building your career.
Today, were going to talk about why that mentality is actually holding you back. And instead, other mantras and success quotes you can keep in your back pocket for when you need a dose of inspiration.
On today's episode, we’re chatting about mentors.
This is a hot topic in the PR industry especially. "Find a mentor" is such common advice in the early years of our careers, but they're not so easy to find.
And actual mentorship looks a lot different in real life versus what we hear about or see on TV.
Listen in for how you can still thrive without a traditional mentor and the types of support you can seek out in your career.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever had difficulty getting an interview or getting hired for a new job. We all have. Getting a job can be a full-time job in itself.
In this episode, I share advice and guidance for anyone looking to get hired in a PR or marketing role.
This is a very personal part of my professional journey and a turning point in my career.
To outsiders, it probably looked like I was on top of the world with a thriving career. But, when I found myself working nonstop, I experienced severe burnout. Eventually my body gave me a sign that I needed to change--now.
In this episode, I'm sharing what I learned from this experience and how other PR and marketing pros can do it differently.
When we think of a successful PR and marketing professional, we usually envision someone who is bubbly, outgoing, the life of the party and commands the attention of a room.
Because this is what most of us picture when we think of PR & marketing pros, it's the exact reason why those are the most common examples of success.
Of course, people who have those qualities can be really successful in this industry, but there is definitely a place (and a need) within PR agencies, marketing firms and corporations -- and every other kind of business -- for marketers who are introverted.
Listen in on this episode to hear how introverts can use what comes naturally to succeed in their careers.
In the PR, marketing and social media industries "build your personal brand" is such common career advice. We see resumes that are beautifully designed with a gorgeous cohesive color palette. Instagram feeds for our careers that are curated with so much care and detail.
Now, if you're doing this, it doesn't necessarily mean you need to stop what you're doing right now. But a color palette, Instagram feed and head shots won't get you paid. They won't get you hired, and they won't get you clients either.
What will instead? Listen in on this episode to find out.
