In this teaching series, we dive into some of the most-often skipped books of the Bible – the prophetic books.

Throughout this series, we’ll look at these men who were assigned to call people back into relationship with God in a really unique way, what they had to say, and how it all came true and pointed to the greater story of God. We’ll also talk about how what they foretold applies to us today.

In part 2, we look at the book of Zechariah. We see God’s call to return to him, walk through eight visions, and look at the prophecies that point to a future king and kingdom. In this, we’re reminded of just how big God’s story is and we’re challenged to ask these two questions: Will I be a willing subject or resistant rebel to Jesus & Will I share the news of Christ with others or keep it to myself?

In part 1, we look at the writings of Amos and the message God gave him to convey to Israel. He kept calling them to return to him, to live justly and to pursue righteousness. But, the Israelites didn’t want to hear God’s voice (much like how we often respond to God). He had given them countless second chances and continued to be faithful when they were not. So, he was finally turning his face from them. But even still, there is a glimmer of hope at the end that Amos shares that we can cling to.

One of the most famous proverbs “Pride goes before destruction” (Prov. 16.18) points to a recurring theme throughout proverbs. The writer of Proverbs constantly talks about pride and humility. Pride is something that we all struggle with in one way or another. It manifests itself differently, but it’s in all of us and comes between us and God. During this message, we talk about pride and what it looks like to humble ourselves.
