  • The Professional Artist 054_ The Balancing Act
    Episode 54: June 21, 2025
Nigel Sade and Echo discuss juggling personal art and commissions - the artist’s version of work/life balance.
    About Nigel Sade
“Nigel Sade was born on a bright and sunny day nearly to some, and exactly to others, 40 years after D-day. Some consider this meaningful whilst the rest laugh at those people, but I digress. He was raised in hell ... or rather Ohio but I don’t want to split hairs. In a smallish county called Portage. As a child he could be found drawing on any surface he could make a mark on, and with all the moving security deposits were more like donations. In School this A.D.H.D. Toth wannabe (but with hands) was considered a bit strange by his peers, ... a malady that never left him as it turned out. As a teenager he was a rebellious youth, A Technicolored street Freak, delving into every aspect of art, from Drawing to painting to Music to Religion to Science to Philosophy in general. Then there were the dark times ... the marriage! When his soul was crushed by evil and doubt. He Dreamt of being an artist but that was not a real job ... how could you feed a family with that pipe dream? However, In just 6 and a half long agonizing years it was over. On the Up side His torment was not without reward; He now has 2 lovely Spawn with which to explore life. Shortly after his divorce Nigel graduated college with a degree in Philosophy. So Armed with his freedom, his offspring, and an amazing ability to argue points that even he may not believe, he set out on the high seas of art! This was a joyous thing! There was much weirdness, art, travel, debauchery and Success. Stories were made and told, and now he Currently travel the amber waves of grain, questioning whatever reality he is presented with, chewing that up and spitting it out in the form of art. Then Nigel shows that art to the hapless masses in hopes that it moves them as much at it moved him to create it. Nigel's art in form is Symbolism (Much like Surrealism), represented in either a realism or Abstracts, and in function it explores basic ideas we hold, mostly it does so by exploring questions of Reality, Love, Thought and plain old strangeness. Nigel’s belief is that art should spur conversation, not just match ones curtains. Now you may ask, "What does all this have to do with piracy?" Well, he was always a grungy, bandana wearin’ freak. His family was and is highly Piratical What with their last name Rogers all the family businesses are Jolly Roger this and Jolly Roger that ... Not to mention their propensity for Rum. So with his families' nautical background and the new Pirate craze, the public proclaimed him a pirate, and a pirate he was. Yet, having always loved pirates, one can say Nigel got peanut butter in his chocolate!”

  • The Authors Quill author Andrew Jackson Guest Heather Anne Lee
Andrew Jackson started writing and illustrating since age twelve and never gave up the former but (thankfully for his readers) has stopped the latter! One of his earliest memories is of watching Star Trek with his dad and falling in love with the speeding ships, bizarre aliens, and the diamond glitter of myriad stars in that eternal blackness.
Even now, as he explores the strange new worlds of family, fatherhood, and a career in retail, he’s never lost his love for the stars. Counting authors such as Stephen King, Iain M. Banks, and Alastair Reynolds amongst his literary influences, he revels both in reading and writing rich, tangible worlds other than our own. Born too late to watch the Apollo missions but too early for interstellar travel he must content himself with dreams and the sad knowledge that he may never know what’s out there. Is there anybody out there? Why aren’t they talking?
On walks down leafy lanes of his native Surrey, Andrew examines these questions. He likes to think he looked at a particular tree one time and pondered its age and almost otherworldly summer greenness and so was born his winning short story, Code L1.
The story itself is an exploration of the Fermi Paradox –- the hypothesis that, if we have galactic neighbours, they should have called by now. Perhaps they’ve seen the darker sides of humanity and they’re afraid of us coming out into the stars. Or perhaps, if they could, they’d tell us why they’ve been so quiet. Perhaps, it’s best not to know…
The Contest, one of the most prestigious writing and illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 42nd year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction HOLLYWOOD - Mullica Hill, New Jersey author Sandra Skalski is a winner in

When she’s not writing, you can find her in the butterfly garden or traveling with her husband. Her greatest joy is spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, and her two beautiful grandchildren.
HOLLYWOOD - Savannah, Georgia artist and Savannah College of Art and Design student Ms. HeatherAnne Lee is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest and was honored along with ten other artists and twelve writers at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California on April 10th. Her art is published along with the other writers' and illustrators' stories and art in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 41 which was officially released on April 22nd 2025.
HeatherAnne Lee was born in 2004 in Federal Way, Washington, and has lived across the US from Hawaii to New York and Vermont. HeatherAnne, or “Heather” to her friends, now resides in Savannah, Georgia, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Heather started drawing as soon as she could hold a crayon and never stopped, graduating from crayon to graphite to paint, and now primarily works digitally. Despite working on a screen, Heather holds to her painting knowledge, layering colors and textures on her drawing tablet, emulating traditional painting techniques in a digital medium.
Heather takes much of her inspiration from the world around her, translating reality into epics and stories of dragons and knights. Heather always strives to push her work to the limit, working with clients to bring their stories to life through her illustrations.
The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book).

  • Spirit Switchboard -Stopping to Smell the Flowers with Stephanie Malo
    Spirit Switchboard
    Episode #113
    Date: June 20th, 2025
Topic: Stopping to Smell the Flowers
    Guest: Stephanie Malo
In this tender and reflective episode, we welcome author Stephanie Malo, creator of the Stopping to Smell the Flowers series. Stephanie shares how stillness, presence, and nature can become pathways to healing and connection with Spirit. A gentle reminder to slow down, listen deeply, and find the sacred in everyday life.
    Guest Bio:
Stephanie Malo is the author of the Stopping to Smell the Flowers series of books and founder of A Healing and Resource Centre. The short stories found in the Stopping to Smell the Flowers books are like poetry or prayer. Stephanie writes about how when we notice the moments and let our light shine, we can manifest abundance, peace and joy. While the stories are written through the lens of her own life moments, each story is written because it has elements that anyone can relate to, gently reminding us of our purpose, and bringing the reader closer to happiness. She has recently realized that she writes using a similar process to automatic writing, as she follows her intuition to know what is to become story material. Stephanie also runs a meditation centre in her community, and offers Therapeutic Touch which is a modern holistic, evidence-based therapy that incorporates the intentional and compassionate use of universal energy to promote balance and well-being. Her first book Stopping to Smell the Flowers: Extraordinary Observations of Everyday Life and her second Stopping to Smell the Flowers: Everything’s Coming Up Roses are for sale on her website (and other channels such as Indigo and Amazon). Pre-orders are now being purchased for Stephanie’s third book Stopping to Smell the Flowers: The Space In Between, which will be ready for readers by Fall 2024, on her website
    stoppingtosmelltheflowers.com.

  • Why Playing Small is the New Self-Sabotage___ And How High-Trust Messaging Kills It Dead
    You don’t need another funnel.
You need a message that pierces through digital noise, trauma patterns, and self-protection mechanisms, and gets heard.
In this live, I’m exposing the real reason brilliant entrepreneurs stay broke, overwhelmed, or invisible:
    It’s not your strategy.
    It’s not the algorithm.
It’s the identity you built to survive a world that punished power.
    We’re dismantling the masks…
And replacing them with high-trust messaging infrastructure that performs without performing.
    This isn’t mindset coaching.
This is identity recalibration, strategic visibility, and collapse-proof positioning for leaders who are DONE playing small.
