Fika with Vicky’s guest this week is author Julia Brannan. She’ll be speaking to us from Scotland, as we focus on her series, The Jacobite Chronicles, a page turning historical adventure.

Julia has been a voracious reader since childhood, using books to escape the miseries of a

turbulent adolescence. After leaving university with a degree in English Language and Literature,

she spent her twenties trying to be a sensible and responsible person, even going so far as to

work for the Civil Service. Being able to escape into the world of great books came in very useful

then!

And then she gave up trying to conform and resolved to spend the rest of her life living as she

wanted to, not as others would like her to. She has since had a variety of jobs, including

telesales, teaching and gilding. In her spare time she is still a voracious reader, and enjoys

keeping fit, gardening and travelling the world. Life hasn’t always been good, but it has rarely

been boring.

In 2014 she decided that rather than just escape into other people’s books, she would actually

like to create some of her own, in the hopes that people would enjoy reading them as much as

she does writing them. It seems that they do, and she has now published several historical

novels, and has also branched out into contemporary fiction too.

In 2019 she moved to live in rural Scotland with her cat Constantine, and loves living there,

going for long walks in the breathtakingly beautiful scenery and writing novels about the turbulent

history of this fascinating country.

Wayne is the Author of the Vampyre Tales Series.

He began writing when he was in grade school because he found it relaxed him, and helped him to “escape” the real world. As time went on, he was given the opportunity to teach a drama class at a local high school, to which he accepted and focused on the importance of stage presence and character building. This later led to a request that would change everything for him. He was asked to create a “believable” Vampire character, and not only did he comply, but his character went on to become his personal persona that would later thrive as the main character of the Vampyre Tales. His books have been taking vampire fans on a journey of their own, leaving a trail of rave reviews and one award thus far, and it’s only the beginning.

Wayne owned a haunted Gothic Revival Manor House for over a decade, and is no Stranger to the Paranormal

He has also appeared on paranormal television, with a few honourable mentions being Paranormal Survivor S3, Paranormal Night Shift, There’s No Such Thing as Ghosts, Much Music, and more.

Tonight, The Light Gate welcomes scientist, pioneering UFO researcher, and author, Dr. Irena McCammon Scott PhD.

Her resume is amazing. She has been in the UFO field for many years. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, did post-doctoral research at Cornell University, and has had a professorship at St. Bonaventure University. Her MS was from the University of Nevada, her BS from Ohio State University in astronomy and biology, and she has done research and teaching at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and the University of Nevada. The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) employed her in Ph.D. level (GS-11) research in satellite photography including in the Air Order of Battle section of its Photographic Interpretation Office, which involved aircraft identification with above top-secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), clearances. She was employed as a Physical Scientist/Cartographer in the DMA Aerospace Center (now the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency) using satellite photography, and she worked at Battelle Memorial Institute. She has been sent for work-related purposes to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and has been in the secured areas including the Blue Room (NASIC) building.

She was an astronomer at the Ohio State University Radio Observatory “Big Ear” (noted for the WOW SETI signal that might be humanity’s only signal from ET), is an amateur astronomer, and has taken flying lessons She was a correspondent for Popular Mechanics magazine. Her publications include books, and works in peer-reviewed scientific journals, magazines, and newspapers. Her photography has been shown on television and in magazines, books, and newspapers.
