Digging Deeper Questions:
Have you ever been in a hard time or stressful situation and found singing or a song recenter you in what matters most?
Do you sing in worship? Why or why not?
What does it mean to sing from the heart?
Jesus sings on his way to the cross, how might singing shape what's in front of you this week?
Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:12-17
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

When we sing in worship we are centered in reality, shaped to love God and others, and sent out into the world to face whatever is in front of us with the God who sings over us in Christ.
Join us as we dig deeper into last Sunday's sermon from Pastor Nicholas González "Worship and The Sacramental Life" and hear from Amy Duncan and Nate Zuellig on "Give Me Jesus".
Digging Deeper Questions:
The sermon describes worship as a place where God "re-centers" our lives. What tends to pull your life off-center during the week, and how has worship helped re-orient you?
Read 1 Corinthians 10:20–21. The sermon describes achievement, approval, escape, relationships, and control as possible "other tables" we return to. Which of these, or something else, do you think is especially tempting in our culture? Why?
The sermon says, "Who we receive here is meant to shape who we become out there." Where do you find it hardest to connect your Sunday worship with the way you live the rest of the week?
Read 1 Corinthians 10:31. What is one ordinary part of your life this week: studying, working, eating, driving, spending time with friends, something else, where you could intentionally remember and reflect God's grace?
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:14-31
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. 18 Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar? 19 What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. 22 Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
23 "All things are lawful," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful," but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. 25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 26 For "the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof." 27 If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience— 29 I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else's conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

In 1 Corinthians 10:14–31, the apostle Paul reminds us that what happens in worship is meant to shape the way we live when we leave. This sermon explores the sacramental life and how God uses ordinary things like water, bread, and wine to deliver His extraordinary grace. In receiving these gift, God invites us to see every ordinary moment of the week as an opportunity to remember, reflect, and live out that grace.

Digging Deeper Questions:
What is challenging about "living for something bigger than yourself?"
What does it look like for you to worship God in "spirit and truth?" Do you struggle with this?
Jesus is the messiah who brings us into God's presence. How does his grace make a difference in a life of worship?
Scripture Reading: John 4:19-26
19 The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship." 21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25 The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." 26 Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."

In his conversation with the woman at the well, Jesus teaches us to look beyond ourselves to worship God in spirit and truth as we look to him our messiah.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

As Pastor Gabe kicks of our new series we learn what it is to worship God with our whole lives. So often we find ourselves worshipping things that do not deliver, it is only in worshipping Jesus, we find the freedom and life we were made for.

Digging Deeper Questions:
When have you experienced God working in a way you did not expect? How did that experience shape your faith?
Where do you see opportunities for the Gospel to keep moving forward through ordinary conversations, relationships, or moments in your life?
What helps you remember that your identity and hope are secure in Jesus, even when circumstances around you feel uncertain?
How might knowing that Jesus has rescued you change the way you approach someone who is struggling, afraid, or in need of hope?
Scripture Reading: Acts 12:1-19
1 About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. 2 He killed James the brother of John with the sword, 3 and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread. 4 And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. 5 So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
6 Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, "Get up quickly." And the chains fell off his hands. 8 And the angel said to him, "Dress yourself and put on your sandals." And he did so. And he said to him, "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me." 9 And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 10 When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. 11 When Peter came to himself, he said, "Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting."
12 When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. 13 And when he knocked at the door of the gateway, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer. 14 Recognizing Peter's voice, in her joy she did not open the gate but ran in and reported that Peter was standing at the gate. 15 They said to her, "You are out of your mind." But she kept insisting that it was so, and they kept saying, "It is his angel!" 16 But Peter continued knocking, and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed. 17 But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Tell these things to James and to the brothers." Then he departed and went to another place.
18 Now when day came, there was no little disturbance among the soldiers over what had become of Peter. 19 And after Herod searched for him and did not find him, he examined the sentries and ordered that they should be put to death. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and spent time there.

In Acts 12, Peter's miraculous rescue from prison reminds us that God is always at work, even when His answers do not look the way we expect. Through Jesus, we have been rescued from sin and death and given new life. And because Jesus rescues us, He also sends us out with a story to tell as the Gospel continues moving forward.
