  • EP8. Why Sex Work Should Be Legal, According To A Massage Therapist

Most people don’t care that human traffickers use massage as a front to sell sex with their victims. But this pairing of the two “professions” is dangerous for massage therapists and sex workers. If sex work was legal, women had workers rights, protections, there would be no reason for sex workers or their human traffickers to use massage as a front. If a woman who wants to be a sex worker is able to obtain a permit, get tested every six months, work where she likes and still be protected, then human traffickers would not be able to take advantage of underprivileged women any longer. They could work on their own and still feel relatively safe. And they would also be able to advertise their real services, instead of depending on the “code” of another profession. I want to live in a world where a massage therapist never gets asked for extra services ever again. And if a woman wants to be a sex worker and offer extra services, it’ll be her right to do so freely and in the open. Then the best part of all, if a man crosses a boandary with a massage therapist at her place of business, then it will be considered shocking, innapropriate and disrespectful, instead of men lying, and using the conflation of the two jobs to say it was “just a misunderstanding”.
