For most of us, “beautiful” has meant thin, youthful, glowing, and effortlessly put-together — a look we’ve been taught to believe makes us valuable and worthy.
But what if beautiful i

What if you stop dieting, your body changes, and your partner doesn't find you attractive anymore? That's a very real fear for many women — so in this episode, I'm asking my husband, John, to answer it honestly. John and I talk about what it was actually like to be in a relationship while I was deeply dieting, what happened as I stopped restricting and my body changed, and whether his attraction to me changed along the way. We also talk about what partners can do to support someone who's healing their relationship with food and their body — and the surprising role that confidence, comparison, and our ideas about what a body "should" look like can play in attraction. UPCOMING SMALL GROUP COACHING I'm opening an upcoming small group coaching experience for women in Sept 2026 who want support letting go of dieting and building a more peaceful, trusting relationship with their bodies. Caitlin had already done the work to heal her anxious relationship with food. But the anxiety didn’t go away. Instead, it started taking over more and more of her life — fueling constant overthinking, rumination, and a desperate search for reassurance and proof that everything was okay. For so many women, struggles with body image and food are intertwined with anxiety. Anxiety about how you look, what you eat, what other people think, and whether you’re “doing it right.” That’s part of what brought Caitlin to me for 1:1 coaching. In this honest conversation, Caitlin shares what changed when she stopped trying to think her way out of anxiety and began learning how to relate to it differently. She talks about how her life began to expand again — sleeping better, feeling more present, traveling, and doing things she had been putting off. But this isn’t a story about anxiety disappearing forever. Two years later, anxiety came back. Caitlin initially wondered if she was right back where she started. What she discovered instead was that she wasn’t. The work she had done had changed how she could meet anxiety, and she was able to move through it in a very different way. If you struggle with anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, or constantly searching for reassurance and acceptance, I think you’ll relate to a lot of what Caitlin shares. Have you ever felt like you just can't trust yourself around food? Maybe you can't keep certain foods in the house without worrying you'll eat them. Maybe you feel like you need rules, restriction or constant control—or you fear that if you let go, you'll completely lose control. But what if the problem isn't that you can't trust yourself, but that you learned not to? In this episode, I explore where that distrust actually begins—and how childhood food rules, scarcity, dieting, restriction and the belief that something is wrong with your body can create a cycle that makes you feel increasingly out of control around food. I'll also share a moment from my own journey that showed me something had changed: the day I opened my desk drawer, saw a bag of Lindor chocolates, and realized I didn't feel compelled to eat them. That moment helped me understand that self-trust around food isn't about having more discipline or learning to control yourself better. It's about understanding the patterns that created the distrust in the first place—and learning that you don't have to live there forever. If you're tired of feeling like you need to manage yourself around food, this episode is for you. What if you don't need to love your body? If you've spent years dieting, criticizing your appearance, comparing yourself to other women, or feeling like you're failing because you can't feel confident or beautiful in your body, there may be another way forward. In this episode, I talk about why body peace can be a more realistic and freeing goal than body love — and why you don't have to go from hating your body to loving it overnight. We explore what happens when you stop making your appearance the measure of your worth and begin practicing less judgment, less obsession, and less fighting with your body. Because the goal isn't to think your body is beautiful every time you look in the mirror. It's to be able to see yourself, have a reaction, and still keep living your life. You eat more than you intended, and almost immediately your mind starts figuring out how you're going to “make up” for it. Maybe you'll eat less tomorrow. Skip breakfast. Exercise more. Be “good” for the rest of the week. But what's actually behind that urge to punish yourself? In this episode of Unlearning Beautiful, I explore the deeper belief underneath food guilt, restriction, and compensation: the idea that when we've done something “bad,” we need to punish ourselves to correct it and become “good” again. I look at how we learn this good/bad framework early in life, how we eventually internalize it, and how it gets applied to food, exercise, our bodies—and so many other areas of our lives. Because this isn't just about eating. The same pattern can show up when we feel we're not productive enough, we're not a good enough parent or partner, we've made a mistake, or we've somehow fallen short. What if instead of immediately turning to shame, guilt, and punishment, we became curious? What happened? What was going on? What were we feeling or needing? What can we understand and learn from this? I explores why understanding—not self-punishment—is what allows us to actually take responsibility, grow, and make different choices. And ultimately, this work isn't just about making peace with your body. It's about making peace with being human.
