#18 Today Sarah takes us on her journey from Iraq to the United States, Sarah shares the most fearful moments living in a country during a war and what her mindset was during those moments. Sarah always had one thing straight, and that was her goals to pursue higher education and get out of there. With the support of her loving family she left for a safer home and to continue her studies. She went on to be sponsored to study in the UK and represent her country! Sarah now has leadership roles in her tech position, she tells us how to be a boss in those most doubtful moments. Sarah loves her home country and lives everyday with purpose for those who did not have the opportunities she had.

#17 In today’s episode we welcome Erika Naimi, founder of Studio Olive, a personalized sunglass wear for kids. Before she honed in on her craft, she went through many trials and tribulations. Her story begins with an inside look as an event manager at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and despite being owned by the state of California, Erika was laid off 6-weeks postpartum during COVID-19. Then at 8 months, her daughter Olivia was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer. She walks us through her treatment and resources such as the Warrior Mama Project, building awareness around pediatric cancer. Going through multiple levels of identity shift during those times still continues, but now that her daughter is cancer free Erika has been able to open up her shop on Etsy and you can now find her cute sunglasses at Shout & About in La Costa.

#16 On today's episode Rocky shares how she managed to self publish not only one but two books all on her. Her books contain poems that tell her life stories and events, she expresses her true vulnerable self through dating and the most intimate moments. Rocky also tells us how she struggled with identity not only because of her sexuality but because of her white presenting physical appearance in a Latino community. Rocky's story might resonate with many of you not only from Latino community but any culture /ethnic background. We often find ourselves in similar situations as Rocky where we feel we aren't looking the part. Rocky also gives us a little insight on working with youth through her social work. Salvador also shares his most recent hurdle in life, he was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and is currently on dialysis. From sleeping through a Beyonce concert to having to be wheeled out of the stadium Salvador knew something was seriously wrong. With the support of his loving family he received the medical help he needed just in time to save his life! We want to thank Salvador for so bravely sharing his story with us!
