August 14, 2019Plan for What You WantIn this episode, Eddie emphasizes the importance of being clear when we are setting goals and expectations in life. When we plan, we need to have a clear goal in mind, and if we don't get exactly what we want, we will often find that we found results that are just as good, if not more so. August 13, 2019Don't Change | Being Genuine to Who We AreIn 2002, Eddie was working at 24-hour fitness, and during his job interview, he had an interesting experience with the interviewer. During the interview, the macho trainer conducting the interview shared a story that made Eddie feel like he needed to be something he wasn't. One of the things Eddie learned from this was that as we tell stories to other people, we need to be aware of how we are representing ourselves to others and what they are gathering from what we are telling them. Another major thing Eddie experienced during this time was the feeling of inadequacy that he felt during the initial interview. When it comes to doing things that you want to do, the worst thing you can do is change who you are. If we try to change who we are to fit into a mold that simply doesn't fit, we won't find success, but we will be more and more drained by the end. We need to own who we are. August 12, 2019Helping You Help You | Navigating ChangeIn this episode, Eddie shares an experience he had with one of his children. He had a real honest conversation with his daughter, which led him to help her work through one of her problems. One of the concepts that helped him do this is talking with his children as if they are adults, rather than treating them like children. They talk about the story she was telling herself, which involved doing something that would make her sad but that would make someone else happy. August 09, 2019We Are Always Enough and Never Too Much (Part 1) | Getting Things Done EffectivelyOne of the goals of this podcast is to help you love who you are and apply it to what you do. Many times, we are often unhappy because we are trying to force ourselves to be someone who we believe we need to be, but does not align with who we are. When we get into these situations, we often fear that we are either too much or not enough. The fearful state is linked with cortisol on the chemical level, which affects our entire body. If we live in this state of fear, we are constantly under an unhealthy state of 'cortisol drip'. If we are always in this situation, we are not physically well. We need to overcome this in order to have a healthy environment for our body and mind. https://www.facebook.com/growwitheddieEddie's Services: https://www.eddiepvilla.com/servicesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/unleash_your_strengths/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eddie.p.villahttps://www.gallupstrengthscenter.com/...more23minPlay
August 08, 2019We Are Always Enough and Never Too Much (Part 2) | Getting Things Done EffectivelyThis is the second part to the 'How You Do Anything' episode, so if you haven't listened to the last episode, listen to that one first! This episode is about understanding what happens when you feel like you're either too much or not enough. Most people want to achieve but don't believe in their own abilities to get things done, and feel either too needy or too pushy. And most things will stay the way they are unless we learn how to change them, which comes by changing the way we think. In this episode, Eddie discusses the ways in which we can improve our relationships and improve the way we think. August 07, 2019How You Do Anything | Getting Things Done EffectivelyDo you need help formulating a plan to get things done? Eddie's goal in this episode is to help you make a plan to get things done. By focusing our energy on only a handful of things, we can get more results in life, and even get more things done simultaneously. Wasting our energy on too many things at once can limit our true potential and waste time on unnecessary projects. The idea behind this episode is 'how you do anything is how you do everything', knocking out one thing in order to create a domino effect to everything else you need to do. August 06, 2019Strengths in Marriages (Part 2) | Embracing the DifferencesIf you haven't listened to the first part of this two-part episodes, listen to the first part before this one. The idea behind this episode is to focus on and honor your strengths while working together in marriage. We don't need to have the same strengths to have a great marriage, but we do need to honor each other's strengths to really live up to who we need to be. Both partners in a marriage want the same or similar things, but often we have different ways of going about it. We may be completely different people, but our differences fill in each other's gaps. August 05, 2019Strengths in Marriage (Part 1) | Embracing the DifferencesWhen we are involved in relationships, they don't have an end. Most don't enter into long term relationships with a contract with an end date. Whether this makes someone feels secure, or stuck, in the relationship, we try to make these relationships work even when they aren't working well. Many people believe that their partner needs to be like them or that they need to be like their partner, but that's not necessarily true. One of the truths we need to accept is that our partner should be different than ourselves. We can work together more effectively if we accept and love the different ways we do things. August 02, 2019Stop Taking Responsibility | Self AssuranceYears ago, when Eddie was at one of the darkest times in his life, he read a book that changed his life. Since then, he has used it in his coaching and has changed the lives of many through this book. One of the core insights gained through this book is the concept of not taking responsibility for things that aren't your responsibility - or taking responsibility for the wrong things. When we take responsibility for the wrong things, we hesitate. We can't take responsibility for other's success, happiness, or experience. By focusing our energy on the wrong responsibilities, we end up drained in the process, rather than moving forward in a way that honors who we are. 2:35 The best book Eddie has ever read6:10 Taking responsibility for the wrong things 12:24 Three types of business Eddie's Services: https://www.eddiepvilla.com/servicesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/unleash_your_strengths/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eddie.p.villa...more23minPlay
August 01, 2019Where Executors Struggle | Examining the StrengthExecutors are people who thrive on getting things done. In this episode, Eddie talks about where executors struggle to help you become better at what you do and become more focused. Executors really focus on being productive and value what they are putting into each day's work. A lot of the time, they'd rather just be productive than analyze the work being done. Listen in to this episode and find out more about this strength.
