Robin Rimbaud is an electronic musician who works under the alias Scanner, owing to his use of cell phones and police scanners in live performance. He is also a member of the band Githead with Wire's Colin Newman and Malka Spigel, and Max Franken from Minimal Compact.

He has composed a vast number of electronic works, particularly for dance organisations around the world, and he is a much-loved lecturer and advocate for humanitarian and socialist rights. He is also very funny.
